Just came back from a trip to the Sam Adams brewery in Boston. It was pretty good. Probably helped that you got free beer (3 different types at 7oz, but they just pass a few pitchers around, so you actually get a bit more).

Agreed, but leave Heineken off that list.

Where can I get this in the lower mainland? Checked BCL but they only have it up north.

My boss gave me a bottle of this and I have been wanting to try it again.

You can typically get it at the signature liquor stores.

There is a cold beer store in Kerrisdale at W.Boulevard and 39th (right on the corner) that definitely carries it and I have gotten it there before. They actually ordered it in special for me and keep it in stock now. Of course I moved to Toronto so I don't go there anymore, but still.

The beer guy there knows his stuff and they have a ton of really great beers to try.

Coors Light is the best beer to drink in the sun. Low alcohol, so its lower in calories and you can drink it without getting drunk. Plus, there is nothing more fun than to bait beer snobs by claiming the superiority of Coors Light.

Or drink it because you're a douchey health snob like me!

I will be having more than a few of these in the sun today.

Normally I'm a dark micro brew kind of guy, but I have to admit when it's hot out and your cooling by a river or lake a Bud Light Lime goes down pretty good. Stay away from the Lime Mojito beer though.

if you want the flavour of a mojito, why not just have a mojito? why pollute it with crap beer? why did they even create that abomination?

Yeah WTF? Just because you can create something doesn't mean you should.

It reminds me of that disgusting drinking game King's Cup.

LMAO. The real Situation doesn't have any thing to do all day besides go to the gym, tan do laundry. Someone without a real job like him could put in several hours a day for working out while busier people can only fit in about an hour per day. If I had the time he does for for working out, I wouldn't be worrying about roadblocks like drinking.

No.. Steroids do that..

Hard apple cider can be a good beer alternative for summer outdoor activities, not only is it refreshing but it makes you a lot less attractive to mosquitos and since it neutralizes their "venom" whatever bites they do give you will be a lot less itchy.

Not to put down anyone's favorite brew, but IMO, if a beer needs flavoring like lime or iced tea, then it's not really much of a beer at all. The same goes for "light" beers. They may be refreshing to some, but they don't really qualify as actual beer to me.

Although I enjoy many of these specialty beers, I always seem to come back to Keiths Red Amber, myself.
Orland Kurtenbach and Dennis Kearns had just been torched 8-1 by the Habs, but they still took time to come out to meet us, some fellow BC boys who were playing hockey in Montreal. THAT"S what being a Canuck is!

Dude, you're on the doorstep of an excellent one.

Black Butte Porter from Deschutes.

You named Fat Tug (my brother in law works at Driftwood) and Black Butte Porter, can I be your friend? Love those beers.

if i was back in the midwest, it would be this:
[Porter pic]
I still need to find a great porter available here in Washington...

Look for anything from Rogue. They're Oregon based and I think they might even have one or two brewpubs in Washington. North Coast's Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout (California) is good too.

I think I'm the wrong target audience but I'd love to try this....
[Arrogant Bastard Ale]

I was disappointed with my first taste, but that was at beerfest last year. I want to try it again before I write it off. Stone Brewing's porter, however, was fantastic.

While I love my dark beer, I need something a bit lighter in the summer. Pale ales are usually my beer of choice, from Vancouver Island, Granville Island, or Lighthouse. For something different, I love Whistler Brewing's Witbier and lambics from Lindemann's. Unibroue's Ephemere is good for summer too. Oh and last year's beerfest highlight: Lost Coast's Raspberry Brown Ale.

(figures there'd be a beer thread when I decide to check in on these boards for the first time in a while. :P)

Went to the Vancouver Craft Beer Week tasting event on Saturday - and had a plethora of great beers.

The one that stuck out for myself ( and my wife) as a really refreshing summer beer was:
