Realistic Trade For Luongo

Recommended Posts

Yeah, he WAS a vezina finalist, just face it, he just sucks now, and will never return to the form he was years ago. Vinny's Contract is actually better, as he's averaged 80 points per season since the lockout, and will still be useful in the last years of his contract. Luongo will be a 5.33 mill backup

Any goalie in the NHL could have put up similar numbers to Luongo because of the team that was playing infront of him. Elliot plays for Ottawa last year and almost ruined his NHL career. Elliot plays for Hitchcock this year and has a Vezina worthy season. What NHL execs see in Luongo is a goalie who has a huge contract and a player who couldn't close under pressure. That's it.

GMs will take a shot at him because he is a proven regular season goalie who could be had for dirt cheap because Luongo has negative value. Vancouver takes a bad contract and off loads a player who has a longer bad contract.

Teams aren't eager to get Luongo, especially if they have to pay a price. Whatever team trades for Luongo gets married to him and the only thing he has actually proven is he's not a winner.

If Luongo was as good as some of you make him out to be, you wouldn't be trading him.
