Under AV the Canucks also:

- Barely beat Dallas in 07.

- Had a 8 game winless streak in 09.

- Loss to Chicago 2 straight years in the playoffs.

- Let a 3-0 series lead vanished against the same Blackhawks.

- Had a 2-0 series lead in the SCF slip away.

Uh oh, here's more ammunition for the Alain Vigneault haters.

AV said in his conference call that he expected Daniel Sedin would be ready for Game 1 and planned for him to be in the lineup. Hence the reason the Canucks came out flat.

Why do people hate on AV?

I guess you don't give a $#!^ about AV having the most wins by a Canucks coach?

Or that he got the team to the Stanley Cup Finals even though most of them were injured by the end of the second round?

There's many more things he's done that you probably haven't even noticed because you've only seen the bad things he's done.

It's up to the coach to come up with a game plan and system to match up against the other team. If all the coach does is say "go hit them guys", then you just have a bunch of cowboys doing what they feel like. Look at New Jersey, they re-adapted their gameplay in all their playoff series. Super disciplined against Philly, burn them on the powerplay. Changing offensive strategies against New York by focusing on softer shots and using deflections.

Prospects?

:bigblush:

Back to topic; I like AV, glad he's back.

I don't buy into having to sign a guy when he is in his last year. Objectively, you should always do a credible job. Same with the players. Give the coach direction, watch him execute & still deliver results = new contract. I also would not have had a problem having him work into the last year of his current deal.

Direction from; give Kassian 12 minutes a game, or tell me to send him to Chicago. Nothing inbetween.

Noooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

Have to kiss the prospects good bye now.

It's pretty short-sighted to affix New Jersey's recent success to a few tweaks by their coach. Kinda more complicated than that. That being said, they can easily lose to the Rangers. What then? Torts is the guy? Well he was there too when the Rangers stunk. What changed was the mix of players.

It's up to Gillis now to get us the players we need. From within or through trade or free agency. Far more important than anything AV or another coach will bring. Cheers.

He needs to let the kids learn from their mistakes when they are playing on the team. Not one mistake and bench their ass to the pine. It is the regular season where you have to learn to put trust in your players and hope they are able to prove you wrong.

How many times have we heard the likes of players like Kesler say it's all about confidence? Crushing a kid's confidence after one mistake is not a great way to help build their confidence in being a better player.

It's not about "one mistake". It's about indifferent back checking, weak defensive zone play, and BIG mistakes. Play hard BOTH directions and you will get your ice time. If you're "crushed" by getting it from the boss you need to find a new job. Do your job well and get rewarded. Don't...well there's somebody waiting to replace you.
