TOWARDS AN AMICABLE DIVORCE WITH LUONGO

May 24, 2012 at 0:51

By Louis-André Larivière | VAT Sports

A few weeks after the elimination of the Vancouver Canucks, Roberto Luongo rumors were confirmed.

In the words of head coach Alain Vigneault.

In a telephone interview Wednesday, one who just sign a new deal that will keep him at the helm of the Canucks for the next three seasons told Sports VAT that Luongo wants to leave the Canadian team, which he has worn the uniform for six seasons.

"This is what he wants now, Vigneault told the TV show" The Match "on Wednesday. And what we must do is [make the best decision] for our organization. "

To believe the words of the instructor, Luongo's fate will be decided probably in the summer. Both sides would then find an amicable solution. The Canucks general manager Mike Gillis himself had indicated, at the end of the season, as Cory Schneider had won a vote of confidence in itself as a goalie.

"We will act in the best interest of our organization, while watching what is best for Roberto," Vigneault has indicated.20120524-005104-a.jpg

Blame unfair

The Canucks were eliminated in the first round series against the surprising Los Angeles Kings, who won the final of the Western Conference, Tuesday.

Although this is the third consecutive year that Vancouver was eliminated by training who reached the final of the Stanley Cup (in 2010 after Chicago and Boston in 2011), Vigneault has brought to the defense of his keeper, that he describes as "guardian of the foreground during the six seasons he was in Vancouver."

"Roberto has been blamed more than any other [for the elimination of the Canucks]. Especially after the defeat against Boston. It was not fair, "said the coach. The latter stressed that the guard remained professional despite the hardships.

Vigneault and CH "rumors"

Between the elimination of the Canucks, the appointment of Marc Bergevin as Director General of the Montreal Canadiens and the announcement of the contract extension Alain Vigneault, several rumors sent the instructor for a second stint with the Canadiens .

But what is it really?

"The rumors with Canadians were only ... rumors. Specialists are allowed certain assumptions and people drew their own conclusions. "

According to Vigneault, Montreal is not the only city where rumors are rampant.

"Rumors in Canadian markets, it's part of our daily lives. This is normal, because everyone has an opinion. Person is not afraid to share them. "

Supporters of the tricolor Vigneault hoped to return to Montreal should not be surprised by the fact that he chose to stay in Vancouver, where he says live a rewarding experience.

"There is no doubt. Vancouver is where I want to lead. It's a city I love, he said. My tenure there, is to bring a Stanley Cup. There is almost here, so we'll see you next year! "

I wonder if AV has any idea what he just did. He just hampered Gillis's negotiating power with that information. Ugh, just think before you say things like that AV. Dumb and costly move.

It was from this journalist twitter account, there's a link and video as well (in french):

Alain Vigneault, fresh off his new contract, tells @TVASports that Luongo wants out: http://bit.ly/KVVhG0. Now will people believe it?

I heard all of AVs interview on 1040 today. He didn't even come close to saying anything like this. I really dont believe he said this to VAT

Even if he did say it I don't think this will bring down Lu trade value. If Luingo is on the market then hws on the market.

Teams will still have to outbid each other and Canucks will get a good return for Luongo.

IF, (and it's still to be confirmed) AV said this, it wouldn't IMO hinder management's position. Once the Canucks initiate (if indeed they do intend to shop LU) trade talks with various teams, all other teams will know what's up anyway. And Lu's contract isn't nearly the albatross that most seem to think it is. There will be interest, and we'll get substantial offers.

Did you read article, and hear the audio? That was AV's voice stating those comments during an interview with them on the 24th. TVA Sports is RDS competitor in Quebec and would not piece together segments of AV's voice to create an interview.

And it definitely hinders Gillis position, for many reasons, most importantly cause now everyone knows he 'has' to trade Lu. Gillis would never release this information. It's why he immediately went onto team 1040 to deny these exact rumors the day after Kypreos started this fire a few weeks ago.
