Ok, so it's both salivating, field day and tangents now, just clearing it up. Not sure how my prediction became an issue related to an french translation omission. Gotta love CDC.

Maybe you should have read the post above yours and/or the others regarding the comment that was actually made by AV????

this is kinda different.. didn't Gillis just talk to the Team 1040? this has damage control written all over it, with AV talking about Luongo wanting out and Kesler not playing well and the shoulder wasn't the reason.

Apparently, Mike Gillis was on at 11:30 according to the Team Radio Twitter feed?

Mabey he is going to tell us he is leaving town for a few weeks! wouldn't be a bad idea on his part. (Refering to MG)

All of this media B.S. is driving me nuts, it is some of the dumbest crap i have ever heard surounding this team, it's a freekin JOKE! and what is even funnier is how people lap it up!

The play offs aren't even over yet, lets all calm down and see what MG does in the draft and off season before we all get all fired up! B)

Gillis, the ultimate in PR damage control.

If you play you play... but it's the coaches job to say if you suck or look injured you don't play. Or else why bother have a coach.. might as well let them play pick up hockey.

Summary of the interview:

Kesler was cleared to play and wanted to play after the injury. Clearly he wasn't as effective as he was last season and there were a lot of reasons for that - injury was one of them.

But if you're cleared to play, you play. No excuses. Other reasons for off year include the fact that he missed training camp.

Number of considerations before a player plays though an injury. Consultations with medical staff as well as the player's own wishes. Only once all factors have been considered is a decision made to have a player delay surgery.

Not concerned that AV's comments will lead to a rift between him and Kesler. Coaches are paid big $$$ to make tough decisions. The Canucks are not a team that is making excuses for poor play. "If you're cleared to play, you play."

Thinks Kesler plays the game very hard every night. That desire sometimes lead to injuries. This injury was the result of one play - not degeneration over time. So it is entirely possible to continue his career and play the same way as he does now and not get injured.

Opponents play the Canucks differently and they play Kesler differently because he's an elite player. Opponents are targeting certain players and our players have to adjust - i.e not go full throttle all the time.

Not fine with Kesler's playoff antics. Sometimes in the heat of the moment players try to overcompensate.

Kesler understands his role and accepts it but occasionally there are lapses like in game 1 against LA. They have addressed it with him.

Daniel's recovery was trending in the right direction before the playoffs and then his health took a turn for the worse. Daniel really wanted to get back into the lineup.

Initially he had pressure in his jaw, then his neck was sore (led doctors to think it was whiplash and not a concussion). Very difficult to diagnose.

Luongo has expressed to MG that if it was in the best interests of the team he would consider being moved. They have not yet determined what is best for the team. Once that is determined they will make decisions.

Luongo will do what is best for the team.

If both Luongo and Schneider are here next year it is not a given that Schneider will be #1. Both will compete for the #1 job. Playoffs will not have bearing on who gets the #1 job

In the French interview - AV misspoke about Luongo ASKING for an out. AV asked that article to be corrected

Will reconnect with Sami and talk to him about the future

Of course opponents play elite player differently. Every good player ever has to deal with that.
