Kings in 7.

No one saw this series coming though, but it reaffirms what I've been saying since Game 7 of last season - DEFENCE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS.

It won one against us last year, it beat us out this year and it's going to win the cup in a few weeks time. The Rangers had a solid defence for a while, but too many puck movers and not enough shutdown guys. Now look at Boston - 1 offensive defenceman in Chara and the rest were big, physical shutdown guys. This season, the Kings have 1 offensive guy in Doughty and the rest barely cleared the 30 point mark. On the other side, New Jersey have no defensive stars (Zidlicky is their only true OD) and they're going to the Cup Finals.

This is how you win nowadays - with a defence playing defensively first. MG wants our defence to contribute more offence which is completely against this recent trend, and its a big reason we were exploited by the big physical forwards of Los Angeles and Boston - because our small agile defenders couldn't match their big powerful forwards. We need more guys like Hamhuis/Mitchell/Seabrook etc. and less guys like Bieksa/Ballard/Tanev to win a Cup.
