I love how people are ripping Bubba to shreds when more often than not he is bang on with his inside sources. Why would there be a big market for Luongo? Was there a big market for 50 goal scorer Dany Heatley when he wanted out of town? Teams are realizing now that with goalies, younger is better. Christ, Schneiders already 26 years old. Thats old. Holtby was only 21. Young guys can carry teams deep in the playoffs. Who the hell is gonna sell the farm to get a 33 year old goalie under contract for the next 10 years.
In all honesty we are probly gonna be better off trading Cory and getting a nice return on him to a team like CBJ or something. Lus hit is reasonable and hes probably worth more to this team on it than off it. I think once Cory is gone and he has some breathing room he will be able to get back to that level where he is Vezina caliber year after year. Look at Marty.
We have so many goaltending prospects that losing Schneider doesn't really hurt all that much. With Lack and Cannata on the way we can afford to lose him if it means making our team a lot better up front.
Why wouldn't there be? When was the last time a star goalie like Luongo was available? Since Luong oin 2006 and prior to that Patrik Roy.
How bout Dan Heatly? Why couldn't cut a move? Do we know??? From my understanding, the asking price was too high, and when an Agreement did come, Heatly didn't want to go to Edmonton. Different situations here, Luongo has a different attitude then Heatly. We'll see what happens, I'm tired of Bubba recently because he's always indirectly slamming the Canucks. His mindset is like those punks at CBC,it's just he choses his words differntly.
Burke and Gillis dislike each other ?
I think any beef Burke would have would be with the previous ownership
"I'm not a fan of the Acquillini's." Brian Burke, shortly after Dave Nonis got the boot.
"I don't know why they didn't invite me to Trevor Linden's retirement ceremony. I would have went to it from anywhere around the world." Brian Burke on not invited to Lindens Retirement ceremony.
2009, "You didn't hear this from me, but Vancouver has offered Alex Burrows Kevin Bieska and the 22nd pick for the 2nd pick," Brian Burke.
Shortly after that, Gillis files tampering charges against the Leafs GM for his comments. Stuff like this can cause problems and the interest of both Bieska and Burrows. Leafs GM got a slap on the wrist and was told to never do that again. A warning.
Mike Wilson also said that his team might try to go after the Sedins.
On July 1st 2009, Brian Burke happened to be in the Sedin's home town. But Gillis already signed him. When asked what was Burke doing in Stokholm he said, "I was in Sweden preparing to sign Jonas Gustavsson."
I hope I answered your question why people think they hate each other. He complains about the new ownership which had NOTHING to do with him, it never did, there's no indication that he ever had contact with the Aquillini's. Also comments like that are useless, and makes him look stupid, he wonders why he wasn't invited to the Ceremony? There's your reason. He just slammed the Canucks owner and expects and invite? Tampers with Burrows and Bieska, Gillis is probably not impressed with him at all, Burke is just a hateful guy, Gillis won't even care, even if he has to hang on to Luongo, he will do it for the sake of not trading him to the Leafs. frack em.
