Hedman and Malone as a return for Luongo + ??? would be epic.

And all Mike Gillis would need to do to make that happen is bring an AK-47 to the negotiating table.

Pending CBA is going to make a lot of teams wary to make big moves and signings. No one knows where the cap is headed and there may be other options opened to teams. Vancouver wants to dump some salary, but are there gonna be other teams willing to pick up that salary. Is the cap going up or down? A drop could cause another lock out or strike which will throw everything out the window. Although I can't see the parties involved being this stupid, the possibility is there and managers/owners may be leary about blockbuster deals and contracts. This will, no doubt, be an interesting summer; but will it be over deals made and not made? Or will it be over threatened strike or lock out actions? These questions could be in the backs of management minds as well. So it's really tough to make a list not knowing where the future's going.

The cancuks need some tuning but nothing to major. I believe we need to sort out our secondary scoring
bring someone in to help chip in on the 3rd line center position. We also need a powerplay Qb. And MG needs to address the second line need more production to have a chance at the cup

Sedin Sedin Burrows
Booth Kesler ?
Higgins ? Hansen
Kassian lappy ?

Hamhuis Bieksa
Edler ?
Ballard ?

Top 4 people

1.Gaustad he would be great but he is going to get stupid money when he hits UFA in the range of 3-4M

2.Parise would be amazing but I honestly see him re-signing with NJ and if he does hit UFA he will be payed in the range of 7-8 M some teams will get desperate.

3.Shultz maybe a little risky to play him in the NHL as a rookie right off the bat but he has loads of potential and can see him being a main stay on the backend if the canucks got him. I expect him to get money in the 1-2 M range and honestly see the oilers having a great shot at getting him.

4.Garrison would be a target I'd hope MG go for he has a booming shot and could help our powerplay. He is a little risky though don't want a repeat of Jeff Finger but Garrison is a lot better just hopefully not a 1 hit wonder. Expect him to get 3-4 M range

#3 P. A. Parenteau UFA RW
#4 Guastad UFA C
#5 Prust UFA W
#6 Moen UFA W

Sedin / Sedin / Burrows
Booth / Kes / P.A.
Higgy / Goose / Hansen
Moen / Lappy / Prust

Hamhuis / Bieksa

Alberts

Schniderman / X

Oh ya and if you’re wondering where Kassian is, He is down getting significant minutes with Schroeder getting ready to bust out the next season.

To OP. not to be a smartass but I'd forgo Patrick Kane.

Malone would be a great fit

4.5 Million for a guy who had 48 points is quite the gamble to take on a cap hit.

Schenn and Schultz would be good enough for me. We need to build up our D. I'd sign Prust and give Jensen a shot.He wont get better in the NHL without a chance. Look at Couteurier, he's doing great.

Never win a cup ever until we have 2 of the following things, Elite top 4 RW, #1 d-man, a 3rd line center better than the oppositions 3rd line center. 4th line is very weak too and needs an Asham or Moen, some guys that can actually play in important games. In case you all haven't noticed the teams that win cups have all these things plus there 3rd lines are most teams 2nd lines and their 4ths would be most teams 3rds..

Since you can't trade for #1 D and Suter wants to play in the states I'm crossing that off and hoping for Schultz and revamped D with some trades (to be honest i'd keep Hammer, Eddy, tanev, beg Salo to play 1 more season and ship out the rest while we can ), i'm also on board with Gaustad or someone similar for the 3rd line, and Bobby Ryan is my desire for top 4 RW.

Very true. But, risking speculation, I bet the space he would create helps his line mates generate even more points

You don't think any of his struggles had to do with the Leafs horrid goaltending, their hit-everything all-the-time mentality, or Ron Wilson's coaching? I live in Montreal. I've seen the guy play. He's 22 and the Leafs have an uncanny ability to bring out the worst in their players. They played an offensive style before Carlyle came in that made a few forwards look good and that left their D and goaltending out to dry. Schenn and Komisarek and much better players than they've shown. They just need a solid structure around them, IMO.

First off thanks for list your list but I totally agree with the other guy. Schenn is a f in clown, and the fact that he was a 1st round pick, and playing in the leauge for 4 years and is only 22 is the reason why he has some value. Sure he's tough, got some smarts, but beyond that, he's actually quite terrible, in fact I think he's gotten worst over the years. It seems like the NHL Is adapating around him, rather then him adapating to the NHL. Personally, I was very pissed when people were saying Luongo for Schenn. I almost puked up my nose when I heard that. Sure maybe you've seen more Toronto games, but even their fans don't like this guy, why would pursue such pylon?

Anyways your list is ok, just take him off and Malone. Malone only because of his contract, and he's not worth 7 million.

Well, I , I feel very good about this draft, but I, I think, potentially you know were gonna have 3 or 4 NHL players out of this group, ummmm, you know like we are not going to prejudice to were they are from.

-Jim Benning June 27, 2015 shortly after the completion of the 2015 NHL Entry draft in Miami Florida.

1. Weber-obviously
2. Justin Shultz- seems like a sick player with everything ive read about him
3. Dennis Wideman- solid dman, puts up points
4. David Jones- mayray replacement, bc born, big
5. Garrison? - maybe

Kassian will be a Beast

I'm with you! I really don't understand why Booth has gotten such a bad rep among fans and the media. I'd put money down he scores 30 goals next year. He's fast, drives the net hard, has a nice touch around the net, and an amazing attitude.

The only trouble is that Kesler and Booth play such similar games on attack that it doesn't make for a terrific combo. Until you put a pass-first playmaker on the line. Neither Kesler nor Booth have tremendous vision or passing instincts, but I'm sure Gillis knows it and is considering who would complement their styles well.

Not sure if Schroeder is ready yet, but he's an extremely gifted playmaker. Really looking forward to seeing his 2-3 month trial centring the second line if he seizes the opportunity.
