POPULAR

Each team moves from a position of strength to address an area of weakness.

Vancouver
James Van Riemsdyk

Toronto
Roberto Luongo

Philadelphia
Luke Schenn
2nd Round Pick (Toronto)

Vancouver gets a young top 6 power forward who hasn't quite lived up to expectations yet.

Toronto addresses their goaltending issues

Philadelphia gets a physical shutdown d-man to help replace the loss Pronger/Carle next year.

mind = blown

Wayda' think outside the box here. I like it. Definately possible, I think a little more should go philly's way tho :P

Also, Higgins shouldn't play centre. I'd rather see this line-up and have Jensen and Kassian duke it out at camp.

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Booth-Kesler-JVR
Higgins-Schroeder-Jensen/Kassian
Moen-Lapierre-Hansen

Assuming we can land Moen.

not bad; I'd like to trade for Voracek more though. If Booth stays on the 2nd, he will already provide much of the crease-crashing ability that's part of JVR's game. If Jakub's RFA rights and a 2nd could be acquired that would be really good, as he can facilitate more diverse types of attacking, so that instead of strictly crashing the net he can also dish the puck or snipe, plus Jakub's beginning to play a well-rounded game so I think he would be the better acquisition.

John 3:16

Jesus LOVES YOU!
2012, meet Matthew 24:36-47!

Its more looking at his upside. He has had trouble cracking the top 6 in Philly, and missed time this year.

Still produced at a respectable pace, and is only 23 years old.

I like this.

We still need to get bigger and nastier...especially on defence...but this is a good start.

This is the first trade involving Luongo I've seen in my time here that actually makes sense for every team. I'd do it.

He was drafted behind only Patrick Kane. He has tons of potential.

Very good deal, like someone said before if we could possibly get Voracek then even better.

Van: JVR, Voracek, 3rd Round Pick (Phi)

Tor: Luongo, Alberts, 4th Round Pick (Van)

Phi: Schenn, 2nd Round Pick (Tor), 2nd Round Pick (Van), Raymond

Maybe a deal like this could work?

I don't think Alberts, Raymond, a 4th, and a 2nd really equal Voracek and a 3rd.
Voracek would be a good acquisition, but it would probably require us giving up too much.

Would our 1st Round Pick do the trick?

Keepin mind Philly will also be getting Schenn and a 2nd along with our 2nd and Raymond.

No, quality over quantity. There's no quality in Alberts and Raymond.

Whoa! Where did this come from?

I wanted his opinion on getting Voracek because he actually knows what he's talking about and how a deal like that could work out.

Never have I been a troll and I did not ruin anything, the OP still made a great proposal.

best proposal in awhile, so simple it makes sense
:picard: some of the trash on here is insane.......

ur right it makes sense for every one involved

canucks -young top 6 power forward--- kassian- kesler- Jvr in a couple of years would look sick
flyers- get both schenn brothers and a replacement for Kubina, Carle and maybe Pronger
leafs- get one of the top 7 goalies in the NHL

but i still think Luongo has more value then just JVR, not by much though, so Id like the canucks to get a late pick or a decent prospect added to the deal

Depending on how the draft goes for TO I can see this happening, even though BB "haas no interest in Louie", whatever. MG seems to pick up players underperforming with their previous clubs (Booth, Erhoff, etc) so JVR is plausable. PHI showed that with their kids they may not need JVR as much as someone who plays better than Kubina. It may take some draft swapping or sallary dumps from either team, but I like it.

It does look like a good trade, however, I would still like the Canucks to fill the rather large hole on defense. Perhaps this could be done via free agency, but I'd prefer the surer bet of picking up a guy in a trade (likely of Luongo).

The Canucks do have a couple of guys in the pipeline (Kassian, Jensen) who look like they could be here in a year (Kassian) or two (Jensen), so my concerns regarding the acquisition of a winger are not as great as those of getting a top-2 d-man.

regards,
G.

sounds alright to me, we get a good young player, AND we get to make bryan burke look like a total hypocrit for taking on a contract like luongos after he said he would never do that!!!
