Man that dorrcoq guy is a serious tool. I'd be willing to bet a lot of money that had Rypien played in the SCF, Marchand would be hiding behind Chara every game. And wouldn't have speedbagged Daniel.

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

according to wikipedia he hasn't played anywhere since 2009-2010, but nowhere does it say he is retired.

Parking violation. He's been stuffed in the trunk of his car.

Was he looking for a place to happen? Anson Carter was. And he did. Sorry off topic.

I used to put chubarov on my second line with the sedins in nhl04. I would also draft ruslan salei first over all. Shows what I know.

Walter... Why's it always gotta be about 'Nam.

F@$K it. Lets go bowling.

It's just kind of disrespectful to talk about how 'not great' someone is after they're dead. Especially when they're well respected.
You probably didn't mean any disrespect when you posted it, but it can be misinterpretted

The poster could have used a handful of other players to make his smart a5S sarcastic remark. But then he specifically chooses to use a man who recently died of a serious mental illness.

Yeah, no disrespect intended whatsoever.

First off, you illiterate tool...how was I making fun of Rypien? And no, he WAS NOT great. Being loved by the fans (and certainly not by many who recognize talent) and having a great heart don't make you a GREAT PLAYER. Clue in!!!!!!

Your an idiot period....out of all the players your stupid head could of come up with in the history of the Canucks, your sorry ass pick a person whose passed away...so as for the tool, your the only tool on this thread.

I would not say he was great but he was good. I beleive that Crow misused Chewby~! he refused to return to the Canux as per wikipedia and did score 4 consecutive GWG to start his career.

Most here remember him but I doubt Dorrq (Sp) would not know of him.

he was fast and agile and most sed he was better than nazzy if were givin the chance.

I was a fan of his.

One of our best 3rd liners in history, would kill to have a guy like him again

^^ agreed

why are people such freaking idiots around here.. is it because they are too young to even remember the guy? bring up Ripper? because you are a fool?? Shame on you!

This thread is about Chubarov and is relavant even if your life is not.

I went to a KHL game last year in St Petersburg and saw Yashin and Afiniganov among others light it up, (beating against Siberia, quite entertaining) with Nabakov in net.. At the time, Wellwood was playing for Moscow! LOL...

Anyways I can't understand wha tthe Ripper has to do with any of this, and as far as I am concerned the original question still very much stands...

wtf has happened to Chubarov and why no updated stats since 09/10?

sorry if I called all of you retard 10 years olds out on the fact that you haven't even been alive for long enough to have seen him play. which is probably why you decide to pick the scab of the Ripper, shame on you again.

Deal with the thread at hand.

I remember Smyl, I remember Jeff Brown, and yes I also remember your mother...

Now hopefully someone with some actual brains and some years on you all will shed some light and answer the question poised in the first place without diverting due to ignorance.

Oh man I've never been more disappointed in CDC. I thought you guys woulda been all over this by now..

Chubarov defected before he completed his military duties. He went back to visit (like many Ruskies do) and they never let him leave. Simple as that. That is one of the reasons why picking Russians in the draft is such a risk.

I like Chubarov, he was probably my second favorite Canuck when he was here and was bummed to see him go. Can't blame him when I heard Russia offered him 3X the money to play there.

way to go jackass pick a guy whose dead to make fun of very classy....Rypien was great, fans loved him and he had a great heart.... :picard:

I wish that was true...

I remember reading the boards after Rypien signed with the Jets with people saying that he was a plug... A lot of people also said that he'll never be in a Canucks jersey again (right before the 10-11 playoffs when someone suggestedthat they should call him up)
Sig too big.

Chubarov was a great player. Crow should have given him more icetime.

Matt Cooke scored 42 points and got Selke votes when he got to play with Artem. He would have been a great asset to have post-lockout for shootouts as well.

You're right, He was tough as nails too. I was saddened when he left.
