Trade 1

To Vancouver:

D- Luke Schenn
W- Colby Armstrong
Toronto 2nd rounder (2012)

To Toronto:

G- Roberto Luongo
W- Mason Raymond
Vancouver 6th rounder (2012)

Trade 2

To Vancouver:

NYI 3rd rounder (2012)

To Islanders:

D- Keith Ballard

Re-sign

G- Cory Schneider for 3 years @ 3.500 per
D- MAG for 1 year @ .750 per
*maybe other minor signings for depth.

Sign

W- Kristian Huselius for 3 years @ 3.500 per
W- Brandon Prust for 1 year @ 1.250 per
D- Bryan Allen for 2 years @ 3.200 per
D- Pavel Kubina for 1 year @ 4.000 per
G- Chris Mason for 1 year @ 2.000 per
*maybe other minor signings for depth.

Lineup

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Booth-Kesler-Huselius
Higgins-Lapierre-Hansen
Armstrong-Malhotra-Prust

Hamhuis-Bieksa
Edler-Kubina
Allen-Schenn
*Tanev, MAG

Schneider
Mason

Cap Hit: 70,300,000
Cap Used: 68,250,000
Cap Available: 2,050,000

I wanted the veteran presence (like Salo) with Edler, as well as with Schenn. If Salo does NOT retire, then no offer to Kubina needs to be made. The 2 million (and other money such as Salo playing or Malhotra being traded) will allow us to go for a 3rd line centerman. I would have traded or sent down Malhotra, but I don't think MG is going to move him, unless it is a last resort.

P.S. I don't know how to change players' cap hits (for free agents) on capgeek, otherwise I would have posted the lineup in that format.

Fair trades, but getting Kubina would be a waste of money.

I'd prefer Salo. I guess we could put Schenn on the 2nd pairing instead of signing Kubina, but I think Edler would perform and develop better with a veteran partner.

I'd rather go:

To COL-Ballard
To VAN-Mueller's rights

That way, we can alternate the 2 if one is injured.

The two being Huselius and Mueller

My 2014 Draft wishlist: 1st rd: Draisaitl, Virtanen, Scherbak. 2nd rd: Brendan Lemieux, Thatcher Demko (Goalie)

I think Tanev's ready for a full time role.

I would like that too, but I don't know if any team is totally sold on Ballard as a top 4 d-man due to all the negativity and lack of exposure.

I think you're thinking of the old Kubina, this last playoffs Kubina couldn't even hold a spot on the Flyers D. Players like Lylia. Gustavsson and Bourdon were getting more minutes than him.
