Actor Charlie Sheen kept from re-entering Staples Center during Stanley Cup:

Actor Charlie Sheen was banned from re-entering Staples Center during Game 4 of the Stanley Cup finals on Wednesday night after stepping outside to smoke a cigarette, the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday.

When Sheen wasn't allowed back into the arena during the game between the New Jersey Devils and Los Angeles Kings, TMZ filmed him going on an expletive-filled rant.

"What does common sense dictate?" Sheen asked a Staples Center employee.

On Thursday, arena officials defended the employee's decision to keep Sheen from re-entering.

Michael Roth of AEG, which owns Staples Center, told the Los Angeles Times that signs inside and outside the arena state once fans leave the building, they are not allowed to return. He added there are designated spots inside Staples where smoking is permitted.

Roth also told the newspaper that the policy was used at "nearly every other venue where tickets are required for entry" and is designed for the "safety of fans."

Roth wouldn't comment to the Times on the employee's actions toward Sheen, but said of the actor: "We regret that any patron would direct such abusive language at one of our employees."

The TMZ video of Sheen's rant also shows an employee, wearing a Staples Center jacket, saying she responded to the actor's rant with her own expletive.

"I don't care who he is," she told TMZ of the former "Two and a Half Men" star.
