Tortorella's Rant
I like how people call people who defend Luongo "Luongo Lovers" If Schneider got shat on as much as Luongo (which he probably will if he becomes the starter) I would defend him as well
beer&meat
I think everyone gets caught up in the emotion. Sure Luongo can still play at a hight level but can he get us to the promised land with his tendency to be either hot or cold. Shutouts one night and 5-7 goals the next is not consistant in anyones books. This situation will resolve itself within weeks and no amount of armchair GMs are going to change the teams course of action. Hindsight is 20/20. and Lou has provided us with opportunities and success better than any other goalie in team history. What he has done in the past, is in the past, and last season showed he has been bested by a young goalie. Its hockey, crap happens, move on and get over it. Team favourites get traded....and its going to happen here I'll bet.
Get real canuck fans
Quick did play 14 more regular season games than Lu,but regular season is not Lu's problem. Lu had 1 game over .890 and 1 game under in the playoffs,,Quick played 20 playoff games and had zero below .890.

Tm085
i don't even consider a .890 save % to be horrendous, it's not great but it's not terrible once you get down around .850 or lower that's what i consider bad
CanucksSayEh
Stats are really useless, just watch em play and judge accordingly.
Get real canuck fans
Vancouver also took over 40 minutes in penalties in the first 2 games (the 2 Luongo played in) I was however responding to Smurf and his comment about being able to win while not being consistant. Him and many other fans idea of consistant is 1 or less goals everynight, which is ridiculous. There is no doubt that Quick elevated his game, just as T.T. did last year for the finals (but not the entire playoffs) which Luongo has failed to do (elevated game) consistantly throughout the playoffs. Nino
Jonathan Quick says Hello. Sun 10/30 Loss 2-3 .813SV% Thu 11/3 Loss 0-3 .889SV% Tue 12/6 Loss 2-3 .889SV% Thu 12/8 Loss 2-4 .833SV% Tue 12/13 Loss 0-3 .864SV% Sat 12/17 Loss 2-8 .571SV% Sun 1/29 Loss 9-12 .769SV% Thu 2/9 Loss 1-3 .818SV% Tue 2/21 Loss 5-6 .862SV% Wed 2/22 Loss 1-4 .727SV% Tue 3/6 Win 5-4 .846SV% Fri 3/9 Loss 3-4 .733SV% Sat 3/24 Loss 2-4 .880SV% Thu 4/5 Loss 5-6 .839SV% Sat 4/7 Loss 2-3 .870SV% Thats 15 games with a SV% below .890 for Quick. Luongo has 17 games below .890. Thomas 19 games below .890. Howard 16 games below .890. Rinne 22 games below .890. Fluery 27 games below .890. Lundqvist was best at 12 games below .890. Every good goalie has bad games, the expectations from alot of Vancouver fans are out to lunch.

Riviera82
Undoubtedly. We're going to be right back here at some point within the season or playoffs when Schneider puts together a bad stretch of games and people will be calling for his head juts like Luongo's. This fan base is incredibly predictable.
Get real canuck fans
Not too many people call for Luongo's head during the regular season, he performs pretty well consistently there aside from his Octobers. The trouble is that it's all about the playoffs now. Luongo had some of his worst games ever in the three playoffs prior to the one against LA, that is why many people want him in another jersey. So until Schneider strings together two or three playoff implosions(throw in a couple during elimination games), I dont think he will get much static from this fanbase. smurf47
Beer and meat...no where in these opinions does it mention anyone remotely suggesting that we expect consistancy of one goal a game...speaking of ridiculous...that was..on your part...and as for tm085...you won;t find many starters in the NHL keeping their starting job at SP under .900.
