well he is a hard working player he went to most of the optional practices except near the end of the year because he wanted rest, but you can't single a guy out. I know there were some injuries but what about Henrik, Burrows, Booth, Raymond, Higgins and so on those guys didn't go to the optional skates near the end of the year or in the playoffs so you can't single Luongo out on that one. And he is hard working he lost 8 pounds last year by riding his bike all summer and if you ever watched practice you'd know that he works relentlessly with goalie coach rolly melanson to improve his game. You don't have the best 2 seasons of your career the last 2 years without hardwork obviously excluding the first season he got here
Like I said, that is my opinion. If he works as hard as you say he does, how come he screws up that badly in the playoffs? I mean take a look at game 6 in the SCF, have you ever seen any other goalie every play like that in the most important game of his career? Same as game 7, he literally just gives up when they score the first goal on him. I have immense trouble believing that for some who works hard and has the talent he has (clearly he has talent) that he would put on performances (that is right I am not even going to use the word few
here, because he has done this numerous times
year after year for 3 years) like that? Many of those performances were not even up to his average performance in the regular season...
If a team wants to win the cup, the main thing they need is for their goaltender to be on his game. Luongo was 50% on his game at the most important times and 50% of the time just completely somewhere else. That just isn't good enough when the opposition goaltender plays at 85 -100%.
Anyways that is how I look at it. I summarize by saying that very rarely does hard work not pay off. He has the talent, the ability and the time to work hard and improve his game. I seriously seriously doubt if he is as a hard worker as you say he is, he would put up so many performances like game 6 in the SCF.
