Canadians have a decent shot at a medal in the diving competition and an outside chance in weightlifting. Huge game for Canada against Sweden in soccer as they close out the round robin. And of course, our gymnastics team participates in the team final - the first time ever that a Canadian team qualified for the final. Good luck to all our athletes tomorrow! Champions of Nothing
So 7:00am is the earliest I have to get up to see Canada compete for a medal. That's not bad.

250Integra
Worst Olympics ever. So many controversies already (but not the Japan-Gymnastics incident IMO). I'm mainly talking about the Korean fencer who got screwed over by a faulty clock, and the guy in Judo.
Tortorella's Rant
How come the UFC fighters don't participate in the Olympics? The wrestling, martial arts, whatever. I heard a while back that GSP was going to consider representing Canada.
Jaimito
Over the same distance/event you most certainly do. You're saying that Lochte didn't expend less energy to win his event, compared to Ye. In the final 50m, I find it extremely impossible that a women can out-sprint a male. Most of the women in these Olympics are just edging my kids times from 1997. And don't take it that I'm bashing women, or discrediting them, but that swim didn't look right.
Jaimito
Now this is pathetic: The lead story on TSN's website is about an American swimmer winning Gold, because she has dual citizenship and as such, has a tenuous connection to Canada.... Embarrassing.
canuck champs
A Canadian Judoka, Antoine Valois-Fortier, will have a chance for a bronze medal later today. If he wins his repechage match, he will play the loser of a semi-final for bronze. His repechage match is at 6:35am today. Multiple Canadians qualified for semi-finals in swimming today. One of our medal hopefuls in swimming, Brent Hayden, had the fifth best time overall in the heats and is off to the semi-final. Canada also has swimmers competing in the women's 200 m Butterfly and men's 200 m breaststroke. Times for the semi-finals: 11:30am-11:41am Swimming – Men’s 100 m Freestyle: semi-finals 11:57am-12:20pm Swimming – Women’s 200 m Butterfly: semi-finals 12:20pm-12:43pm Swimming – Men’s 200 m Breaststroke: semi-finals
