Hello all, Sorry for the spam, but I wanted to bring this to everyone’s attention...The Northwest company have been charging these outrageous prices up north(Nunavut) here in Canada the attached are some of the prices for food that we all take for granted the great luxuries we have for living in “southern” Canada. Anyway the Northwest company also owns Giant Tiger, I am sure we have all shopped there and why not it’s cheap right? What I am asking is for your help on getting the people aware of the situation up in Nunavut and spreading this around so that maybe something can be done with it. The Canadian government subsidies the stores up north but there is no protection for the consumers there. In most cases there is only 1 store in the Small communities in Nunavut and so many people are doing without. How can we let this continue in our own country? Can you believe in today’s day and age that people are forced to pay these prices? Please help let everyone know what is going on. Not only did I receive an email from my friend telling me that the amount she pays for 1 week of groceries is well over $1000.00. I understand the cost of shipping the goods up there, but the iregularity in prices is crap. Some prices are pretty close to what is charged in Vancouver area (the Kraft mozzarella) but the price of cabbage is bull. I mean, freight is charged by weight for the most part.
