Provost
Awarding a publicly-funded, $15 million per year "arena management contract" without bidding or due process just reeks of corrupt use of taxpayers' money. I can't figure out why they thought this would fly, especially with Goldwater all over them already.
Bill Sikes
Gary Bettman wants this too happen so badly, last year it was Hulsizer during the playoffs, this season its Jamison during the playoffs..... only one problem, the arena. That's a pretty big problem.

Ryan Murray
I want Seattle to get a team too. I get another team to cheer for! But first the NBA better bring the Sonics back

LostViking
I'm really wondering how Bettman manages to explain this to the NHL BoG's. Owning a team, that loses money, and still gets a broke and desperate city to fork over $25M to keep a franchise. Oh, to be a fly on the wall. Ghostsof1915
Here's the ranking of TV markets, and possible future and available locations for context: Seattle- Tacoma: 12th (Houston 10th, Detroit 11th) Phoenix: 13th Portland: 22nd (St. Louis is 21, Pittsburgh is 23rd) Kansas City 31st (Nashville 29, Hartford 30th) Personally Seattle or Portland looks to be the best options. Yes it would be nice to see a team in Quebec City or a 2nd team in Ontario. I really don't see why Bettman is fighting tooth and nail to keep the team in Phoenix. http://www.sportstvjobs.com/resources/local-tv-market-sizes-dma.html

oldnews
mixed feelings - it always pissed me off that they stole our Jets and sent them to a gd desert - and on the bright.dreamy side of this lawsuit, perhaps Gillis could pry Doan away with a sweet UFA offering... Provost
I think its simply a matter of "I will fight for your franchise to the bitter end". I hate what is going on right now in Phoenix, but I also remember a time when Vancouver wasn't considered a fantastic market either.
Bill Sikes
Can you explain how Atlanta moved at lightning speed then?
Hobble
Atlanta had a competent government who weren't willing to pump in tax payers money to cover loses, and I believe the owners of the arena didn't want to own it.
