hockeyville88
The Canucks have shown Raymond loyalty a few times now by re-signing him I'd hope Raymond reciprocates by not being such a bloody floater of a player next season.
Grapefruits
Here's my question. As far as I understand the Canucks can already offer him a contract at 85% of what he makes now. So if the Canucks win the cutdown arbitration, does that mean they can offer at 85% of that amount?

RunningWild
The idea of icing all the same forwards next yr who could only win 1 playoff game - is alarming. Seriously, call 911. Considering they are all under contract next season (minus Pahlsson), it's a distinct possibility. *sobs*
etsen3
Are you on drugs? Raymond worth 2-3 million dollars? Maybe 2-3 million pucks but not dollars. He's an RFA and would be worth more to the team if they let him walk, let someone else put in an offer sheet, and collect a draft pick coming our way. Neversummer
On the surface, taking a player to arbitration for lower pay seems like a harsh way to treat someone who is coming back from a very serious injury. BUT if Gillis informed Mason's camp that the intent is to keep him at 85% of this year's salary and protect him from arbitration, I can see Raymond appreciating that gesture. I just hope this won't turn out to be another Willie Mitchel in the making.

El_Capitan
This clown isn't worth 1 mil!!! he flops around like a fish outta water. He's useless!!!! How can management be so blind!! I was optimistic about next year, but now I'm going to drink myself into a coma so I don't have to see Raymond in a Canuck uniform again!!!! This is awful news! On par with seal hunting! I'm at a loss for words I tells ya so I'll leave it at this. • . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . ,.-‘”. . . . . . . . . .``~., . . . . . . . .. . . . . .,.-”. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .“-., . . . . .. . . . . . ..,/. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ”:, . . . . . . . .. .,?. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .\, . . . . . . . . . /. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ,} . . . . . . . . ./. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ,:`^`.} . . . . . . . ./. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ,:”. . . ./ . . . . . . .?. . . __. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . :`. . . ./ . . . . . . . /__.(. . .“~-,_. . . . . . . . . . . . . . ,:`. . . .. ./ . . . . . . /(_. . ”~,_. . . ..“~,_. . . . . . . . . .,:`. . . . _/ . . . .. .{.._$;_. . .”=,_. . . .“-,_. . . ,.-~-,}, .~”; /. .. .} . . .. . .((. . .*~_. . . .”=-._. . .“;,,./`. . /” . . . ./. .. ../ . . . .. . .\`~,. . ..“~.,. . . . . . . . . ..`. . .}. . . . . . ../ . . . . . .(. ..`=-,,. . . .`. . . . . . . . . . . ..(. . . ;_,,-” . . . . . ../.`~,. . ..`-.. . . . . . . . . . . . . . ..\. . /\ . . . . . . \`~.*-,. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ..|,./.....\,__ ,,_. . . . . }.>-._\. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .|. . . . . . ..`=~-, . .. `=~-,_\_. . . `\,. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .\ . . . . . . . . . .`=~-,,.\,. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .\ . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . `:,, . . . . . . . . . . . . . `\. . . . . . ..__ . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .`=-,. . . . . . . . . .,%`>--

Tangelos
Ironic facepalm is ironic. Re-read what you wrote and kick yourself in the balls. Most of you posters have stated that Canucks gave given Raymond too many chances and opportunities to shine, and he has failed in all these opportunities. So if the Canucks have spent so much time and energy trying to develop Raymond, why in the frack would they just let him walk? When you buy a stock, oh let say Facebook, and it drops from $25 to $15 then again to $5.00. Do you give it away because it was once worth $25? No you sell it for $5.00 or keep it just incase it rises again. Players are investments, remember that.
Smashian Kassian
If Mayray were a UFA, GM's would be lining up to sign.
Hafizzle
Do you know how rfa's work? If another team offers him a contract, we get compensation for him. Probably a 3rd rounder for Raymond which is quite a good compensation if you ask me.
raymond.of.light
When I first heard about this I was f***ing excited as he's my favourite player. I also laughed because I knew there'd be so many people either furious, happy because he'll probably be traded or disgust. Reading all the things people have posted about him these last few days, I wouldn't be surprised if he got boo-ed at games when he got the puck. He can bring so much to the team and after getting seriously injured his performance wasn't the best. Yeah the season before wasn't his best, but his stats were all improving up until that point. Personally (and not at ALL biased) I love the move by Gillis. Raymond will hopefully (fingers crossed too tightly I can't uncross them) burst out of the gates at the start of the season and prove all who say he'll be traded wrong. <3 you MayRay Go 'Nucks! DownUndaCanuck
If he can score 15-20 goals and 40 points, 2 million is the perfect amount. I think Kelly just signed in Boston for 3 or 4 million and he's putting up the same points but is obviously more physical.
Ballisticsports.
Raymond is not worth more than Burrows...then again Burrows is worth alot more than the 2mil he's making
BenSurgeon
2,21 million is still too much for Mason Raymond . He does not fill what the Canucks need, grit and size. After the early playoff exit and if this is the best the Canucks can do, I think they are in big trouble.
