So the Question is.

If you were offered Dion for Lu would you do it?

(I just wanna say I doubt Burke would) But if he was willing to part with him would you want him?

I would like Phaneuf, he could be the big name defencmen that we're missing. But if we get Phaneuf, I would trade Bieksa and sign another right side dman (Garrison).

To STL: Bieksa
To VAN: Perron

To TOR: Lu
To VAN: Phaneuf

Sign Garrison

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Perron-Kesler-Booth
Higgins-Lapierre-Hansen
Weise-Manny-Kassian

Hamhuis-Phaneuf
Edler-Garrison
Ballard-Tanev

Cause Phaneuf can play the Right Side, so this is what I'm thinking.

To Tor: Lu (Possibly more)

To Van: Dion

Edler - Phaneuf
Hamhuis - Bieksa
Ballard - Tanev

You can choose either Eddie-Dion or Hammer-Juice to be the top pair or split time between them, and if Ballard and Tanev can continue the play we saw in the playoffs we would have a reliable defense through pairs 1 to 3.

Oh for the sweet love of douchecanoes, you made almost 2,000 posts, you've been here 2 years, you KNOW there have been numerous threads on this trade alone, nevermind all the other infinite TOR/VAN proposals and yet you still make one to feel special.

Quit disrespecting the members with your redundancy.

It's just a discussion, not trades in particular, just to see if people would want him. You don't need to overreact.

Sorry I should have searched, so the Mods can feel free to lock this thread then, and you can calm down now.

And I'm not making it to feel special, other than trade proposal threads, I don't make thread's often, I've made a few recently since there has been nothing happening with the team but usually I barley make threads, and I'm also not sure how I'm disrespecting people.

If anything you disrespect people, everytime I see you post it's always a sassy comment towards someone, so your really not one to talk, Js.

Schneider, Ballard and our 1st for Phaneuf and Gustafsson

Edler - Phaneuf
Hamhuis - Bieksa
Alberts - Salo
Tanev

Luongo
Gustafsson

That defence is going to win a Cup. It is built for the playoffs. That sort of physicality and size is how you go far, and is the perfect mix of skilled puck-movers (Bieksa, Edler), big shots (Salo, Phaneuf), big hitters (Phaneuf, Edler, Hamhuis, Alberts), solid defensive positioning (Hamhuis, Salo) and great leadership (Salo, Bieksa, Phaneuf).

Keep Luongo, he has playoff experience and has proven himself in big games - Schneider has not and will take a while to gain that experience. Enjoy your cup folks.

Even though he improved somewhat in his own end there is still No way in hell I would want that head hunting sac of garbage on this team . His defensive liability is huge . Phanuef is one of the worst skaters I have ever seen at the defensive position. Ask Calgary fans how bad he was in his own end ? On the Leafs anyone can look good with so many looking bad .

Normally I'm a cynical a-hole about proposals but the more I think about it the more I would love to have Phaneuf.

He'd thrive in our system with Edler.

Edler - Phaneuf
Hamhuis - Bieksa
Ballard - Salo (Assuming he mostly likely isn't retiring, or pop in Garrison, Alberts or Tanev)

Tanev - Alberts

My counter trade is:

To Toronto:

Luongo (G)
Raymond (F) (RFA)

To Vancouver:

Phaneuf (D)
Gustavsson (G) (UFA)

Unlike Toronto's offense or goaltending.

They have one of the best or deepest defenses in the league.

No way MG gives LOU and Raymond for Phanuef and Gustavssonn. Pure lunacy
Leafs one of the best D's in the league ??? Second worst GA in the league and 3rd worst PK ! Their offense is not too shabby 10th for GF and 10th best PP in the league and tied for 8th for Goals on the PP .

The top 6 D in Toronto are all minuses.

My second fav team is TO and i follow that backwards organization like I follow the Nucks. No one in the league thinks these guys are a defensive threat .

Getting mixed opinions.

I'm sorta feeling the same. Can't decide on whether I would do it or not. What about this for another counter proposal?

To Vancouver: Dion Phaneuf + Luke Schenn + Joe Colbourne

To Toronto: Roberto Luongo + David Booth + Keith Ballard + Kevin Connauton + Anton Rodin + 2012 2nd + 2013 1st

Luongo + Booth + 2nd = Phaneuf + Colbourne
Ballard + Connauton + Rodin + 1st = Schenn

I would put Phaneuf with Hamhuis:

Hamhuis - Phaneuf
Edler - Bieksa
Tanev - Schenn

Even though that is the best defense we've ever had, I'm still undecided.

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

I'd say no, he has some strong points in his game, i love his hits! but isn't very good in his own end. Besides Hamhuis and Salo we don't have any really good defensive Dmen. It doesn't solve our problem on defence and also he has the rep of being a cancer in the room with a 6.5 cap hit.

Not in a million years. The only player I would want less would be Kaberle.

"What players need is the right kind of strength and power. That includes learning to understand that leverage and positioning can be just as important as raw strength when it comes to winning battles in the game. It's more about timing and athleticism --and avoiding injury--than it is about how much you can bench press. I don't know how many times I've seen a guy with the physique of a defensive end line up a guy half his size, only to bounce off when he connects. Sure, there is room in the game for big guys who can throw their weight around. But for the most part, players are smart enough to see them coming--and strong enough to protect the puck when they arrive. There are trainers out there who know how to devlop hockey-specific strength--though a trainer can help only if a player follows the program. All too often, I've seen players sign up with the best trainer, but not show up for their workouts and never to reap the benefits."

No I would not do that deal at this point. I think Luongo is worth more than Phaneuf. But if I could not find anything better before July 1st, 2012, then mabey if the offer was still on the table I would do it.

I think if we got Dion, Him and Edler would make a Solid pair, and Both could play to they way we know they are capable.
