we'll see how he fares without that beast on his right side... don't think he'll be worth the contract he'll command.

We'll see how Weber fares without that defensive stud on his left. Suter's amazing shutdown prowess allows Shea to play that hard hitting offensive game.

Didn't we hear during game 5 or 6 that Minnesota wouldn't be outbid by anybody? Doesn't mean he would sign there, I know, and if I was him I would take Detroit over Minnesota any day of the week no matter what Minny offered. I just think it would narrow down the chances of him signing anywhere but those two places

Safe to say when Weber becomes a UFA he'll get whatever league maximum is for a player?

Any trade made would be subject to a deal getting done before the deal is completed. It would be stupid to make one otherwise.

That's not how it usually works. We need look no further than Hamhuis, who had his rights traded unconditionally not once, but twice shortly before july 1st only to end up signing with us.
Thanks for the sig Tv9924!

trade for Suters rights and make him a longterm offer in the 7 million dollar range.

Deal Luongo and Edler and other pieces for Nash.

Detroit's going to roll out the red carpet for him, no reason for him to pass on a cup winning franchise.

Couple of ways to look at that.

Detroit won the Cup four years ago. Since then they've had two 2nd round exits and one 1st round exit. That's even worse than Vancouver's (perceived by some fans) brutal playoff record lately.

By that logic, there's no reason for him to turn down offers from Anaheim or Carolina...

More accurately, there's no reason for Suter not to go to a competitive team with a decent shot at a Cup, that can also afford to pay him the league max.
Orland Kurtenbach and Dennis Kearns had just been torched 8-1 by the Habs, but they still took time to come out to meet us, some fellow BC boys who were playing hockey in Montreal. THAT"S what being a Canuck is!
