quote - Hansen, Raymond, Kassian, Malhotra and Arnott all deserve roster spots more then Evander Kane because they have demonstrated that their character is far superior to his.

And Kane has demonstrated superior hockey playing abilities.

quote - Not only has Evander Kane "allegedly" acted like a jerk through his actions off the ice, he looks like the biggest tool on the ice.

Evidence that he is a toll off the ice please?

And he looks like a tool here?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-6P2020Ddc&feature=related

I love Matt Cooke, but Kane sure doesn't look like a tool here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bb12giI7Y-o&feature=related

quote - Evander Kane has not dedicated his time to the Vancouver Canucks organization like Malhotra, Raymond, Luongo, etc.

Neither did Luongo or Malhotra before they became Canucks.

quote - Evander Kane hasn't earned the right to some ridiculous mega-contract.

Do you have information on how much he is asking for? A mega ridiculous contract is IMO something like 6M for 7 years. Is he asking for that much? You have evidence? I think he just wants out of Winnipeg.

quote - This is our team and our time to win a championship.

All the more reason to address our top 6 situation now. I have nothing against Higgins or Raymond, but an upgrade is an upgrade.

quote - This is a team filled with men of character who were raised by people who understand what the values of this community are meant to be about. That's what I think Mike Gillis believes in. Hockey isn't just a puck sliding around the ice-It's a form of expression. Hockey gives the player the opportunity to show what type of person they are.

Are you in the copywriting business? This sounds like a script for a commercial. In fact your whole post sounds like copywriting.

quote - Evander Kane has proven that he does not have what it takes to serve as a role model to youth in the community of Greater Vancouver.

He has proven himself to be a dynamic, top 6 goal producer in the NHL. Maybe he has not proven that he is a community role model yet, but he is still 21.

quote - Winnipeg is the smallest market in the National Hockey League. Winnipeg isn't the party town that Evander Kane is looking for.

What evidence do you have to support your claim that he is looking for a party town? He is rich and he can party wherever he wants.

quote - If he wants to play in the NHL, then he should behave like a man.

He is a budding NHL star player. What evidence do you have to support your claim that is not behaving like a man? Is Pronger asking for a trade out of Edmonton a childish act?

quote - Men don't make decisions based on their need to party and destroy their bodies.

Evidence he is doing that?

quote - If Kane wants to win, he should stay in Winnipeg. The Jets have the infrastructure to start winning 3-4 years down the road.

If he wants to win, he should go to a Cup contender. I believe good economics count as a winning structure. A small market team has to struggle mightily to be a competitive contender. The new CBA might change that I admit, but the odds are still stacked against them.

quote - Evander Kane will not be a Vancouver Canuck.

You can look into the future now? Just because you can write doesn't mean you are right. People like you have an agenda and I can't understand why.

OK, you totally made up for your comments in the Luongo thread with this post.

Not very often can someone type a whole essay like Morris Berger-Poll did, and make such little sense. The ridiculous observations and interpretations and downright falsities of that piece was incomprehensible.

There is not a coach or GM in the business that would give Raymond, Arnott, or Malholtra a spot over Kane. Who is this guy, and what game is he watching?

How in hell does he look like a tool on the ice?? I really don't care what he appears to be like off the ice, but how in hell does he look like a tool on the ice?

quote - Evander Kane has not dedicated his time to the Vancouver Canucks organization like Malhotra, Raymond, Luongo,
etc.

Hahahaha best quote ever. I don't even know where to start.

Players that don't play for our team haven't dedicated their time to our organization. Uhhhh.... duh.

I am just going to stop, because as Mark Twain said,"Never argue with stupid people. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."

Kane is basically what we hope Kassian becomes. If we could have them on the same line...

Kane - Kesler - Kassian

And if both of them pan out to be superstar power forwards, other teams will be like

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

One thing Kassian is not known for is his playmaking ability... having a black guy on the KKK line would be something else though haha!

I would just sign Knuble for min wage just to make that KKK line happen haha!

Evander Kane is an extremely valuable, highly-touted, young scoring winger. Within the next two years, Evander Kane will become an elite player in the National Hockey League. He's got experience player centre. Our Left Wing position here on the Vancouver Canucks is currently occupied by Daniel, Booth, Higgins, Raymond, Ebbett and Burrows. We don't need another Left Winger. Our Centre position is currently occupied by Henrik, Kesler, Malhotra and Lapierre. Kane is listed as both a LW and a C.

Kane does not fill a need at RW. The best course of action for the Vancouver Canucks is to sign Jason Arnott to a 1 year 1.5 Million contract and to find more depth forwards in free agency. Give Malhotra opportunities to continue to rehabilitate on the 4th line and allow him on the 3rd if he regains his physical strength. This man performed very well during the 2010-2011 season and has shown tremendous character as well as important dedication to this community. Manny Malhotra took a puck to the eye during the playoffs for this team. We will show loyalty to Malhotra just as he's shown to this team and this community.

Zack Kassian is a man who worked his rear-end off this offseason. Kassian spent part of his offseason training with the Sedin Twins. We can tell that the twins know how to have a good time, but I'm sure he wasn't having as much of a blast as Evander Kane was. Zack Kassian deserves an opportunity to be in our Top Six next season.

Jannick Hansen also deserves an opportunity to tryout for the top six. So does Mason Raymond, who literally cracked his spine for this team.

Jason Arnott spent years of his career in Edmonton. He also spent a year under Ken Hitchcock in St. Louis. That doesn't exactly sound like he was having the time of his life.

Hansen, Raymond, Kassian, Malhotra and Arnott all deserve roster spots more then Evander Kane because they have demonstrated that their character is far superior to his.

Evander Kane allegedly refuses to sign a contract with the Winnipeg Jets. The Winnipeg Jets are a symbol of Canadian patriotism. The Winnipeg Jets organization developed Evander Kane into a better player. Kane should show a little bit of loyalty by signing a contract with the team that drafted and developed him. If Mike Gillis signs him to an offer sheet then I hope Chevy matches it. Not only has Evander Kane "allegedly" acted like a jerk through his actions off the ice, he looks like the biggest tool on the ice. Evander Kane has not dedicated his time to the Vancouver Canucks organization like Malhotra, Raymond, Luongo, etc.

Evander Kane hasn't earned the right to some ridiculous mega-contract. This is our team and our time to win a championship. Evander can join the Canucks when he hits Unrestricted Free Agency. This is a team filled with men of character who were raised by people who understand what the values of this community are meant to be about. That's what I think Mike Gillis believes in. Hockey isn't just a puck sliding around the ice-It's a form of expression. Hockey gives the player the opportunity to show what type of person they are.

Evander Kane has proven that he does not have what it takes to serve as a role model to youth in the community of Greater Vancouver. Winnipeg is the smallest market in the National Hockey League. Winnipeg isn't the party town that Evander Kane is looking for. If he wants to play in the NHL, then he should behave like a man. Men don't make decisions based on their need to party and destroy their bodies. If Kane wants to win, he should stay in Winnipeg. The Jets have the infrastructure to start winning 3-4 years down the road. He's still very young, he should be waiting his turn to win. It'll come soon. It's not here in Vancouver, he just doesn't fit into our depth chart and into our locker room.

Evander Kane will not be a Vancouver Canuck.

Sure hope you never end up on a jury :o

I agree. Did you see the video of him interviewing Miss America from New Jersey who is also a Canucks fan?? He was blushing so red!

Edler, Jensen and a 1st for Kane i would do.

Kesler is a warrior and will be just as good or better for the rest of his career as Kane.

Trading Kesler for Kane would be a stupid move.

Thanks. But whats wrong with Cooke? If I was a GM and Cooke is an UFA, I would sign him for a reasonable price at a heartbeat. He is a defenseman killer. If we had him in the finals 2 years ago he would've made a difference.

I used to play hockey with/against Evander at the NSWC, mostly during summer 3-on-3's. He's awesome at hockey but is a ****ing douche. Same with Gilbert Brule.

Kane isn't willing to sign an extension, supposedly. It would be different than a regular trade.

Stall for Sutter isn't even close to being a fair trade, but that's what happens.

Stall had 1yr left on his contract and sutter is a hell of a player in the making. They also got the 8th overall pick in a draft stacked with bluechip defense prospects. Aswell as dumolin who was a former 2nd round pick

On top of that stall had just turned down a deal for 60mill over 10yrs.

I think pit did pretty damn good in that trade. They got the perfect young 3rd line center and the 8th overall pick for a guy who was gonna walk in a year

Agreed. They got a great prospect in Sutter, another in Dumoulin and the 8th pick (Pouliot). Dumoulin has NHL size at 6'3 200 and is doing well in college hockey. Sutter is a for sure NHLer. I wouldn't have taken Pouliot that early, should have snagged Grigorenko or Forsberg. Not a bad trade for what was essentially Pittsburgh's 3rd line centre.

Over his career Matt Cook has been one of the dirtiest if not the dirtiest players In the game.

AV hated him when he played for the Canucks. Cook would start trouble all over the ice and his team mates would have to deal with his problems.

He was almost kicked out of Pit for same reasons Mario had a serious talk with him and last year Cook made a huge effort to change his game.

What you say is the popular belief. I would however point a few things out:

He was never suspended as a Canuck.

He was embraced by Crawford, who believes in physical hockey.

Mario keeps him around for a reason.

He lands over 200 hits a year. 95% of them are clean. So some of them misses the mark and hit the guy in the wrong spot, so what?

The Savard hit was legal at the time. Mike Richards did the same thing to Booth. Years ago Stevens did the same to Lindros and many others. When Richards and Stevens do it it's ok, when Cooke does it its dirty. I don't remember Richard fighting his own fights either.

He lives by the sword and dies by the sword. He has taken some huge hits in the past.

We loved him when he was here guys. He always stood up for his teammates, not with fighting but with hitting. We are getting out-hit? Send in the Cooker. We need more energy? Send in Cooke. Don't you guys remember the play by play guy for Team 1040: "Everybody loves the Cooker!!"

When Bert was suspended in 2004, he stepped up to the top line. You don't remember the Game 7 tying goal against Calgary with 5 seconds left that sent the game to OT? That should count as one of the bigger goals in recent franchise history. Too bad Malik messed up 1st minute of OT.

If you haven't noticed, beating down the other team's defense is a key component of winning a playoff series. Last year, not one forward on our team poses as a serious threat to the health of other teams' defense. Most teams have several.

Cooke was our unsung hero award winner in our annual awards in 2003.

He was also heavily involved in the Vancouver community, with some child or adult literacy stuff I can't remember.

The guys in the locker room now who were here back then still defends him. I can't believe you fans have forgotten how much he did for us when he was here.

Avery is perfect for this team. Unfortunately the guy also pisses off his own team on a daily basis. Too eccentric for AV though. And going from New York to Vancouver for a guy like that is like going from Vancouver to 100 Mile House.
