Bobby Ryan would be cheaper, and is in my opinion just as good of an option.

Hodgson, Grabner, and a 1st?

what happen to the classic Ballard Raymond and a 1st

playing with the sedins nash would break the 100 pt mark for sure.

Don't you think Nash and Kesler would be beast mode?
Nash with Sedins would be great don't get me wrong, but Nash with Kesler is CRAZY.
Sedins will produce with or without Nash, plus they would always play opponants top defensive pairing. It's kind of putting all our eggs into one basket.

they would still need a playmaker, but he would still put up +80 points. toss him on the 1st PP unit with the sedins and it's at least an extra 20 points, pushing him over 100, easy.

Sedins with Nash is the best fit. Nash is a power forward and goal scorer, exactly what the Sedins need. Kesler needs a pass-first player with him, as he tends to hog the puck sometimes and having 3 shooters with Booth, Kesler, and Nash wouldn't be as effective.

LOL... I wonder if his going to Columbus would remind him of his Florida days?

Because of the snow and car-jackings right?

If this is true (it is Kypreos) then we have no chance for Nash:

Nick Kypreos ‏@RealKyper
#SNdraft. Names from #Sens being speculated in a potential Nash deal include prospects Lehner, Zibanejad as well as a 1st round pick

Nick Kypreos ‏@RealKyper
#SNdraft. Names from #Sharks being speculated in potential Nash deal besides 1st round pick include Clowe Pavelski and Demers

This is 50% true.

The only way we can stay in the mix is if we offer 2 1st round picks and add to that ... which I would do.

EDIT: All the other teams are offering 1 1st, so we can have a little bit of leverage in the mix if we offer two.

we have 15 million in cap space and need 5 guys, if we ditch a 900k guy we have over 15 and a half million and bring in Nash for was it 7.8m? That leaves us about 8million to get a million dollar backup, and 4 other 1 or 2 million dollar players..easy. Not that I think nash is coming, but it can be done pretty easy considering all our core are already signed.

I'm not opposed to the idea of the Canucks getting Nash. He can even be fit into the cap structure for next year. This year is actually pretty easy with the only significant contract would be Schneider's.

The problem with Nash has always been what happens the year after (2013)? There's Malhotra to sign (or his replacement), Burrows, Higgins and that Edler guy, plus various depth guys. With Nash on the team some of these guys aren't going to get much of a raise or they will move on (via trades or free agency).

G.

Latest rumor has Philly offering up JVR, Read, Bobrovsky and a 1st.

That's just insane. If that's a competitive offer I hope Gillis has the sense to avoid all trade talks with Scott Howson regarding Rick Nash.

We've tried the Sedins with power forwards. We tried them with Bert, and we tried them with Sundin. Nothing's worked as well as Burrows.

Kesler needs a pass-first player with him, as he tends to hog the puck sometimes and having 3 shooters with Booth, Kesler, and Nash wouldn't be as effective.

With you on this. We need an elite playmaker for Kes.

I think Nash would be great with Kesler, for sure they would read off each other. Kesler would not be selfish playing with a guy like Nash, he's too good a player.

The difference is Rick Nash has good speed and he's a power forward just in his prime. I'm happy with Burrows as a Sedin linemate in the regular season, but in the playoffs Burrows lacks the power to be successful against the top tier defensive pairings in the league.

I sense the hockey knowledge is weak in this one.

You want 3 puck hogs on one line? 3 goal scorers and nobody that passes. That 2nd line would fail.

rick nash will not go anywere we are getting him

I'd rather have Bobby Ryan, younger cheaper (cap hit and trade cost), and better fit in Canucks room as far as team's salary structure is set.

Can't see MG trading for Nash.

I agree with you on this 50%.

I would love to have either player of course.

Bobby Ryan because he is younger, lesser cap hit and all of that.

Rick Nash because he has more skill, size and does it call. $7.8 cap hit, I know, but there are ways to work around that.

yeah.. i don't care how much you think you know about hockey...

if you deal Schneider for Nash you go over the cap and handicap your own team

If you go over the cap, you make adjustments to get under the cap. That's quite hard to wrap your head around isn't it? I've been reading some of your posts, and you just like to go around and try to cause trouble.

Columbus traded for Bobrovsky today, so we went from having a 20% chance of landing him to about a 5% chance.

Well, we can all breathe a sigh of relief. It was a close call, but it looks like Schneider ain't goin to CBJ for Nash.
