allkill326
Gillis is laughing because now that Josh Harding signed a three-year contract with the Minnesota Wild there is one less potential No. 1 goaltender on the free-agent market. That leaves the Vancouver Canucks general manager with the best available commodity in veteran Roberto Luongo. As the GM most interested in acquiring a veteran No. 1, Burke probably had to resist the urge to fling a few things around his office. With Harding off an already thin market, it will cost the Toronto Maple Leafs more to get their hands on Luongo, 33, despite his $5.33-million (all currency U.S.) salary-cap hit that has another 10 years to run. "He’s got the top guy to trade right now," one of Gillis’s fellow GMs said.

RunningWild
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/another-blow-for-burkes-goalie-chase/article4353599/ Gotta say, from an outsiders perspective - things couldn't have gone better for Gillis. From Thomas's mental breakdown, refutes of Kipper hitting the market, Vokoun going to a team no one knew was looking, belief that Bernier won't be moved till Quick is locked up, now Harding signing w/ Wild. It's looks pretty promising. But markets are fickle and they change quickly. It make look good for Gillis now, but all it takes is 1 team to make a goalie available and dynamics change. Hopefully Gillis has a strategy here, cause this is his contract - he needs to move it for valuable assets.
