The Lightning deepened it's prospect pool with the additions of Grigorenko, Collberg, Aberg, Schmaltz, Marcantuoni, and Iafrate.

With our 5 picks (turned into 6 as a result of a trade), we were able to get the best player available (in our books) at the time with our first rounders, and addressed some organizational needs with Schmaltz and Iafrate. Marcantuoni is an intriguing player as he was once highly touted as a top-10 prospect only to have a disappointing season shortened by injury.

While some of these names are pretty big risks, through good development and seasoning, we are confident in this crop and that they can all be NHL regulars in the near future.

Major Deal Goes Down On Draft Day:

kovalchuk.jpg

THE CANADIAN PRESS

Edmonton -- In an otherwise uneventful day in Albertas capital, the Oilers put shock waves through the system as they acquired superstar winger Ilya Kovalchuk.

Kovalchuk is known for his scoring prowess, his ability to take over games, and his heart and determination, as shown by playing through the playoffs with a serious back injury.

It appears as though the deal was in the works for weeks, even months, and slight tinkering was made several times to get this deal to happen. Rumour has is Carolina wanted a young defenceman, but Edmonton stuck to their price and a deal was hammered out.

When questioned about the deal, GM MO.2 said "We felt this was a deal that, when presented with, needed to happen. Although we shipped out quality, quality players in Winnik, Wright, Murray, and Booth, as well as top prospects Jenner and Stone, we feel like we acquired the best player in the deal, as well as a decent prospect and a depth forward. We wish the best of luck to Daniel, James, Douglas, David, Boone, and Mark the best."

The 27 year old led the Hurricanes with 403 pool points last season. (37 goals, 46 assists, 83 points in 77 games)

The New Faces of the St.Louis Blues Organisation

Erik Karlsson

prof28.jpg

Like "big" Erik, "little" Erik is going through the Juniors System of Frolunda of the swedish Elitserien.

For a still 17 Years old Boy he has pretty impressive Numbers with the Frolunda U18 and the Frolunda Juniors.

We dont expect him a "big" Erik and we wont compare him with him for now but we are confident in "little"

Erik and may we´ll see him playing some Elitserien Games next Season. If everything works fine he should come over here in 3 Years..or earlier..like "big" Erik.

We´ll be patient .

:)

Logan Nelson

538643_384186271639306_330746772_n.jpg

Nelson had a good 1st Year in the WHL with the Victoria Royals.

The 18 Years old Center recorded 62 Points in 71 Games which made him the #5 in the Rookie List in the Regular Season. With 70 Pim´s he also brings some thoughness around.

We are hopefully about him for the Future.

Konrad Abeltshauser

6ed85ffc429f842090be9f06000f.jpeg

Konrad had a great last Year with the Halifax Moosehead of the QMJHL.

With strong 44 Points in the Regular Season and great 16 Points in 16 Games in the Playoffs he was on of the important Players in Halifax. His Numbers for the German U20 Team are also good and he will be very important for the Geman A Team in the future." I wont call him a new Ehrhoff or Seidenberg but he´s on a good way and we are happy that we got him in this Draft.

He´s likely to play in the AHL next season and with some luck he could get the one or the other shot in the NHL. I´m sure we´ll start contract negotations with Konrad around the Season." TGC said.

Mathias Niederberger

Barrie-Colts-Mathias-Niederberger-OHL-Images.jpg

In the age of 18 Mathias had his first contact with professional Icehockey when he played 8 Games for

the German Hockey League Team Düsseldorf Metrostars whe. The Fans expected him as their upcoming No.1 and also the Managment but Mathias decided to go to Northamerica...with success.

He finished his first Season in the OHL as 6th in GAA and 7th in SV% . Further... he was one of the best Goalies in the Playoffs. So i would call it a successfull Rookie Year for.

If he´s stays confident in hisself and steps up from year to year..he could have a bright Future.

Well it allways tough to get a Job as Goalie in the best League of the World. But Mathias is still young and he has potential....so we are confident in him.

The Montreal Canadiens made two trades at the draft - one that moved their 14th overall selection to the Detroit Red Wings for the 19th and 49th picks, and then they acquired the 81st overall selection from San Jose for their 2013 3rd round pick. Despite having Olli Maatta available to them at #14, the Habs traded down in an effort to bolster their depth, and ended up getting the two guys that they had their eye on all along. Getting Brian Hart in the 81st spot was simply icing on the cake.

19th - Slater Koekkoek, D (Peterborough, OHL)

49th - Anton Slepyshev, LW (Novokuznetsk, KHL)

81st - Brian Hart, RW (Phillips Exeter, USHL)
