In one could have been a very poor night for the Washington Capitals, two of the team's best players managed to have outstanding games and kept the Caps within playoff contention in the tough Eastern Conference. These players were:

Evander Kane: After leading the Capitals in regular season goals last season, Evander Kane agreed to a contract extension that will keep him in the Nation's Capital for 5 more seasons. After going scoreless in his first two games, Kane got two points (1G, 1A) and was also a +1 playing big minutes on Washington's top line.

Tobias Enstrom: Enstrom had his strongest game of the season as well assisting on three goals while going +2 on the Caps top pairing. The Swedish defenseman is in his contract year this season and will look to return back to his 50 point form after an injury riddled 2011/12 season. You can be guaranteed that General Manager da.moose will do everything in his power to get Enstrom signed long term as soon as he possibly can.

Another slow start for my Jets.... starting to become a bit of a trend, slow starts every year now... hopefully another trend is the team turning it around...

A few people have asked me this, I've answered the PMs now but will post it here for everyone's benefit.

Q: What is the cut-off time to have a player added to my roster and have his points count for that night?

A: The cut-off time is 12:00pm noon Pacific time. This helps keeps things simple when I have to update a few days at a time after being at work.

I'm curious, would Petr Sykora fit in the Canucks roster? maybe replace Dale Weise? The guy had 44 points last season and is an UFA right now.
