The Habs had a good feeling about Slater Koekkoek when we traded down from #14 to #19 to get him. But watching him go tenth overall reaffirms our belief that we made the right decision. Needless to say, we are very pleaaed with the move.

Curious question....

With reports that Jordan Staal turned down a 10 year contract extension offer (rumoured to be in the $6 million per year range), I keep hearing from various places that Carolina is his destination of choice to play with his brother Eric.

Last season, filling in as 2nd line center with Crosby out most of the year, Staal hit 25 goals and 50 points, despite not getting the prime opportunities afforded a top center with Malkin around scoring in bunches. His playoff performance was what stood out, 6 goals and 9 points in 6 games, and a +2 rating in a first round series that was completely devoid of anything resembling defensive play.

Eric Staal was the go to guy in Carolina, but only managed 24 goals, outpaced by his younger brother. He did hit 70 points on the year but 70-80 points seems to be his average nowadays.

My question is, taking all that into consideration, IF Carolina did land Jordan Staal somehow... which Staal would you put as the top center? Do you stick with Eric, or do you see what Jordan can do with Skinner and see if Eric can jumpstart the 2nd line? OR, do you load them both up on the top line with Skinner?

Very excited to see Brendan Gaunce going to Vancouver. Also, Ceci went to the Sens, meaning both my picks this year went to Canadian teams, and most importantly, got the hometown teams next great prospect! :towel:

Oh yeah, and Ribeiro to Washington, great for Blue Jackets to see him go to a team that will be in the playoffs, and will hopefully help boost his numbers as well!

Overall, great Draft Day for the Blue Jackets organization.

Well as expected, Grigorenko fell, not sure how I feel about Buffalo, but based on how they finished last season, this is a huge boost to the organization. As for the 'Bergs, I'm surprised at how far each have slipped. Forsberg at 11 is a steal for Washington. I expect that the reason my 2 'Bergs slipped was partly because of their size and partly because they are tied to their contracts in Sweden still.

Good to see Schmaltz go in the late 1st round (hopefully the Canucks wanted him badly at 25 and settled on Gaunce :bigblush: )

St.Louis Blues announcement:

As great Fan of the Slapshot Movies and the Charlestown Chiefs, Blues GM TGC has decided to move the Farm Team from Kansas Ciy to Greenville/South Carolina. Reason...The Greenville Road Warriors where formerly knewn as Johnstone Chiefs...the Johnstone Chiefs took their Name from the famous Chiefs of the Slapshot Movies. Sadly the Chiefs moved to Greenville and became the Road Warriors .So thats like a detication to both Chiefs Teams.

so far....

Erik Karlsson 4th Round 99th Overall (Carolina)

Logan Nelson 5th Round 133rd Overall (Buffalo)

Joey Laleggia 5th Round 123rd Overall (Edmonton)*

*St.Louis 2010 CDCGML Pick Laleggia was not Drafted in the NHL in 2010

Nelson will have a hard stand against guys like Grigorenko and Girgensons in Buffalo i guess.

Mikhail Grigorenko - Buffalo (12th Overall) - drafted 5th in our league

Jordan Schmaltz - St Louis (25th Overall) - drafted 41st in our league

Sebastian Collberg - Montreal (33rd Overall) - drafted 25th in our league

Pontus Aberg - Nashville (37th Overall) - drafted 28th in our league

Matia Marcantuoni - Pittsburgh (92nd Overall) - drafted 64th in our league

Max Iafrate - Undrafted - drafted 76th in our league

Overall, we are pretty happy with where each player ended up. Not surprising that Montreal took Collberg (there is that joke that the Canadiens would take Teravainen 3rd overall because they didn't want to draft anyone over 6" tall). Marcantuoni to Pittsburgh is a huge bonus for us, and Aberg ending up in a solid organization in Nashville will allow him to take his time and develop in Sweden, where he is under contract until 2014.
