3.1 – Active Roster Guidelines

Each roster will consist of a full 23 player roster. Teams are limited to a maximum of 14 forwards, 8 defencemen or 2 goaltenders on an active roster at any one time. Teams can request a player be dressed in a different position (i.e: forward playing defence, defenceman playing forward) on an emergency basis, but this will be accepted for no more than a seven day period. An empty goaltending roster spot cannot be filled by a forward or defenceman. Teams can dress any roster at their discretion, within these guidelines, provided that teams keep their players happy as outlined in Article 2 Section 2.

Just sent Joe Morrow down yesterday. ;)

My interpretation was that it was only if you had 11 active forwards or 5 active D, then you could switch guys up on an emergency basis, not for spares..

Could be wrong though.. C2X?

Morning, I have only just read post 5161 down to here, and before I go back and see what sparked this debate, my interpretation of the rule is that you can have no more than 14 forward roster possitions, no more than 8 defensive roster possitions and no more than 2 goalies. The absolute total being 23 and never higher. Because we play all 23 men every night with no one 'riding the pine' I interpret that having 14 forwards and 6 dmen means you can dress a callup forward as a Dman in emergency so as to ice a full 23 players.

I know this is an anomaly to the real NHL, but they wouldn't ice our full 23 player lineup every night either, so its equivalent in my opinion.

Other variants I have considered: 1 goalie, 14 and 8 vice 2 goalies and either 13/8 or 14/7 and of course its emergency variants where the 14th forward roster spot is filled by a ninth dman where there is one goalie totalling 23 men. Of course the emergency nature means this is only for a week, and at the cost of disgruntling your team due to playing out of possition.

So now I will go back read the whole conversation and see that I am wildly off topic, haha. I am curious to know if I am interpreting this correctly.

Didn't we say we could carry an extra forward under an emergency basis? Because I'll gladly put Malhotra on D. ::D
