Finnland's "Man of the Match" just happens to be my NYR draft pick Ville Pokka! Congrats to him on a game well played, securing Finnland's spot in next years WJC top tier.

Tonight we have the four heavyweights once again doing battle as Canada and the USA square off around 1am PST and Sweden Vs Host team Russia at about 5am PST. This represents the vast majority of our players in action 23 fantasy players of 34. Now an orange background on the players playing tonight will appear on the google doc.

Blues News

If the Season starts and we keep our Teams , the Blues are open to Trade some Roster Players to a Team which has not enough Roster Players for Draftpicks or Prospects.

With Tomas Vincour, Kaspars Daugavins, Andrei Loktionov and Teemu Hartikainen we have 4 Young Guys who shared their last Season in the AHL and the NHL.

With Johan Larsson and Mike Sgarbossa we have 2 other Youngsters who could see NHL Icetime this Season.

So we want to make Room for them.

Blues Forward Depthchart

Green= Fixed NHL Players

Orange = 50/50 NHL Players

Red = Possible NHL Players

Horton - Weiss - Iginla

Erat - Legwand - Hodgson

Chimera - Goc - Bergenheim

Sullivan - Loktionov - Nodl

Vincour - Hartikainen - Daugavins

Larsson - Sgarbossa

We wont move Hartikainen and Vincour.

So that leaves Daugavins and/or Loktionov + we would include an Veteran Player like Bergenheim or Nodl

Further there are still Carson McMillan , Cody Bass and Bryan Rodney on the Market.

Carson has 5 Points in 15 NHL Games , Cody could also get NHL Icetime.

If there are interested Teams..PM me.

HUGE no to re-draft.

I have spent 2 years getting my team to where it is, and it is ready to breakout.

I like the team i took over, and as you can see i resigned most of them, i let three go on purpose and I am loving my prospects..Ville Pokka, man of the match last night, as an example. I am leaning with squeek and the no side, but wouldn't complain if there was one. I know I already said that in different words, but wanted to say it again with more clarity. haha

I'm opposed to the complete re-draft overhaul idea, but I do see the merit in some sort of "expansion draft" type of thing that would help spread the wealth while also helping teams attempt to get cap compliant for the 2013-14 season. Maybe there could be some sort of mechanism created where teams could earn an extra draft pick by allowing players to enter the "expansion draft", and the pick would improve based on the quantity/quality of the player(s) left exposed? Just a thought.

I'm probably a team that would benefit it from a redraft but I'm definitely with the no side. Lets keep it as is. Maybe a lottery draft of sorts, where teams can protect a certain number of players or a set amount of salary? That way guys can retain the teams they've built but we get a bit of a shake up and maybe help some lower end teams a bit?

A complete re-draft will take a tonne of time I don't have any more, and is unfair to the GM's that put in the work to make up their rosters.

If you want to do an equalization partial draft, I'm all for it, but I'd like to protect most of my players if that was the case.

i´d like also to keep most of my players...but i would give some guys..so 2 or 3..rather 2 ...for an expansion draft
if every top team would do that...it would help the other teams

i also like the idea from arby..extra draftpicks for teams that gave away some players

anywaýs..i like my team and i have no real superstar ...just a solid top 6 full of 50-60+ points players
to lose one of them could hurt

As a team right up snug against the cap, I suppose it wouldn't hurt if I am the one broaching the idea that depending on how the league handles things...perhaps simply allowing the full prorated this half season is good, and then incorporating the make whole money next season will reduce the sting..but then by the year after that we simply need to be compliant. No iff ands or butts: this would more or less force some movement of arguably top ranked players who command top end money.
As a team with more than one guy making 5m or more..i know that i would be forced to move out some talent which no doubt, some less stacked teams would be eager to snatch up. Obviously pending the eventual deal the league makes...we will have to see how they do it..but if they do it by allowing one buyout and the rest the teams have to trade away salary to get under: then that might be the way to go..if its all trading away salary..then maybe we should do that too
I guess we won't know which direction to explore until we know how the league is doing it first.

it seems NO rules ...good good

scouting players during the season would also help teams

for an example...nate prosser or stu bickel..no one had them on their list last season and they were not set on their teams

both were a great help for the blues last season..even stu is not longer at our team

or "one week" wonders like paul szczechura

Let's just see what the CBA says first. If the cap does indeed drop to $60 mil for next year as reports say, then there will be no need for equalization as many teams will be forced to comply. Besides this would allow GMs to trade those players they want and we all know that's a lot more fun and engaging than a draft.

/ As one can imagine, I am against the redraft.

I stuck it out to the bitter end , was really disapointed with the effort shown by the canadians, the US team was hungrier.

Yes, Team Canada didn't play as well as they did against Russia, but why is there hardily any credit given to the US game plan and how they simply beat Team Canada? Team US probably played a pretty much picture perfect game as to how to beat Team Canada: they hounded the puck, made quick transitions on the turn overs they forced, used their speed to back up the Canadian defense, and got an OUTSTANDING performance from John Gibson. We can debate all we want about what his ultimate upside will be, but for the semifinal game, John Gibson was what we refer to as "in the zone". He has been the best goaltender in this tournament BY FAR, and it's not even close. If Team USA wins the gold, he'll be the reason why. Let's give credit where credit is due: hats off to John Gibson and Team USA.

other question
since jan. 1st we are allowed to re-sign 1 player who becomes a free agent after this season.
does it make sence to re-sign a player atm, even we dont know how the salary and a possibly paycut looks like after a successfull cba talk ?

each team may be different. I am not looking too good a couple years from now for salary cap so I wouldn't want to add to that right now, but upon closer examination, after the WJC and once i see the CBA, I might want to squeak a guy in there. Another team with too low a salary in two years time may want to resign a guy ASAP to leverage that salary in the new terms...
