Semantics...lol

We are all of us here supporters, by virtue of being here. I suggest we all reconcile to the reality that we are fans, and supporters of the NHL and we are happy to have the lockout settled. I think in the end this lost half a season will prove to go beyond its purpose of strengthening the league, and it will in fact grow it to unheard of levels sooner rather than later.

Semantics perhaps, but I swore I wouldn't contribute any of my money to their little pile of HRR, and so far so good. I was never going to be so foolish as to try to swear off of my biggest passion.

While the Habs have been pleased with their overall team game, there are some individuals up front that just aren't carrying the mail. The forward lines have been juggled in an effort to get the guys that are playing well more icetime, while some big contract players are being demoted due to their lacklustre play.

Forward lines at practice:

Alex Tanguay - Valtteri Filppula - Rick Nash
Eric Condra - Alex Galchenyuk - Keith Aucoin
Michael Frolik - Casey Cizikas - Milan Hejduk
Matt Cullen - Jim Slater - Erik Cole
David Jones - Ryan O'Reilly

Suffice it to say that the following message is being sent to the players on the fourth line and below:

Some line juggling at Tampa practice, in hopes to get Patrick Marleau and Martin Havlat going. After that hot start in his first 5 games, Patrick's production has tailed off. While we didn't expect that to last, we hope these new line moves will reignite whatever he had going for him early this season.

Moulson - Tavares - Knuble
Marleau - Fisher - Brunner
Grigorenko - Sheppard - Havlat
Johnson - Desjardins - Palushaj
Kobasew - Brown

Hedman - Josi
Carle - Lee
Stralman - Oduya

Crosby doing his best to lead by example for my team. Another big night for Sid!

With 12 other players in action tonight (Glass, Cooke already played, Irving sent down and Schneider on the bench tonight) hopefully the Jets can get some big contributions and start climbing the standings!

Glad to bring in Marek Viedensky. I've been a fan of his since his Prince George days.

Id like to say if I'm allowed, that I havnt accepted my fate of being last, and I am looking to improve my team, but a lot needs to happen in need for a trade to happen. I've had multiple trade talks and was very close to making a couple deals. But I have leaned to Ask for advice and it's helping me. A team doesn't go straight from last to 1st. I traded for wisniewski early on in the season and got a very good bottom 6 player for picks. So I am not tanking to get a pick. But I don't want to rush into making any drastic changes like I did when I first joined.

Of course you`re allowed.

After a 20 sec overview of your team, I note you have 3 roster players that don`t play in the NHL. 4 including Booth, who is still on your roster, though he hasn`t played a game yet.

You made the most outrageous signing ever for a non-roster player to save your job, yet you still don`t ice a full roster.

Players like Chipura, who are producing at the NHL level are on your 4th line, while you 2nd and 3rd line centers have produced nothing, or aren`t in the NHL... What does this say for the morale of your players?

Teams are signing NHL players as free agents daily... they are available NOW. Lots of them.

As many teams have done, you need to release some talent in exchange for ice-able/playable players. It`s not fun, and it won`t be exciting, but it is a move you have to make. You have players who are signed in Europe whom you can release and create open roster spots.

I believe the prees release was just pointing out that a GM wouldn`t last long in the NHL without icing a full team.

The best defence would be action IMO.

CONTRACT EXTENSION ( RFA ) The Montreal Canadiens have signed goaltender Anders Lindback to a three year deal.

Anders Lindback: 3 year deal, $ 9.9 million dollar contract ( $ 3,300,000.00 per season ).

The Habs are extremely happy to have Anders commit to our organization for the long term. Our now unquestioned starting goaltender will help to solidify our crease and to also keep our youth movement going strong.

The Nashville Predators are very pleased to have Antoine sign with us. We feel that with his size and skill, he will be able to sign an NHL contract very soon. We will place Antoine in our 1st line center spot in the minor leagues.

Greens hit the nail on the head.

Not trying to force you into making any move that doesn't benefit you, much like I cautioned against when you asked me about one trade in particular. But there is some roster management you can do, as greens pointed out, that wouldn't require trades but would greatly benefit your team.

Not trying to pick on you or anyone, just trying to address the parity issue. Part of that is ensuring that our struggling teams are heading in some sort of direction that will help them improve. :)

Is "nhltradereport.com" a valid source to retire a player? If so I would like to release Dwayne Roloson from our organization. Best of luck in the future.

I am far from pro yet, as this is not even my second full season, but I have some things I like to do when I find a free half hour. This next paragraph might be open to criticism, and is not perfect but I will give it a shot.

First of all, there are no Sidney Crosby type players that are untapped. Your not going to find a Diamond that has somehow been missed. However, if your looking for a deep roster guy or even young talent to fill out your farm team, spend a little time reading through your AHL team notes. It doesn't take much but you get an idea from news bits about young guys. There was a Canuck player i liked way before he was a canuck player, as an example. He now plays in Germany, I bet TGC has seen him play lately, he is from my City..Matt Petinger. He had a rocky early bit in the NHL, but was a good player, still is. He was at one point down in the ECHL after playing for Washington in the NHL and later Tampa i think, and I was scouting a very early camp practice in the ECHL where he dominated, just lucky he was in my town. Later that week or maybe a week later he signed with the Manitoba Moose and was called up to the Canucks later that year, 2009. I remember it well as i was moving home from Ottawa and killing the week while my stuff was coming across country by taking in some of the Victoria teams camp.

I digress, the point was that I suggest keeping an eye on the guys who aren't drafted in the first round, you wont get them free anyways....so look at the guys who are undrafted, and later get walkon tryouts or are outstanding on their junior clubs in their final years. Late Bloomers. Also, at the end of this year, make notes of which guys are outstanding RFA/UFA on our rosters as the deadline approaches. figure out who your 'targets' are, and if you think they become available go look at the rosters. One of the guys had a trick: open all 30rosters at once and then use the search function. If you don't see the guys name anywhere, enquire.

There is no good source, but I like to take a good look at waivers too. Todays bust might be next years fourth liner. I really overuse The Hockey News. Seriously hit it every day but just to satisfy my curiosity about the sport I love. haha....Eliteprospects is a good stat site that is global in its scope and up to date to the week, damn near. Finally, I use Daily Faceoff to check my team day to day, starting goalies et cetera.

I duno, if you ignore hockey outside of the Canucks though, your going to have it rough here. I can't win and I keep really informed, so there you have it. My two or three cents worth of info.

EDIT: at the very least, you should regularly check your minor league players to see if they are called up or what...and check your bubble players to see if they were sent down to the minors...lastly keep on top of your good players injury status.
