On the flip side, if Scrivens keeps this play up, my starter won't be a starter much longer :(

Raleigh Morning News

With the first quarter of the season just passing by, we grade every players performance on your Carolina Hurricanes.

Loui Eriksson
The most underrated player in the league is Loui, but he has had a slow start. Carolina needs him to pick it up and play like the star he is if they want to make a move in the standings.

Josh Harding
Josh has been very good considering the circumstances. Carolina will be watching his minutes as Ms has been getting the better of him lately.

It was a very disappointing first quarter for the hurricanes. With many players struggling they have not been scoring many goals. On defence it looks like they could use a bit more depth, with the emergence of Lashoff and Tanev in the top 4. On offence they need a lot of help and players to step up.

Rule 83 - Off-side

83.1 Off-side - Players of the attacking team must not precede the puck into the attacking zone.

The position of the player’s skates and not that of his stick shall be the determining factor in all instances in deciding an off-side. A player is off-side when both skates are completely over the leadingedge of the blue line involved in the play.

A player is on-side when either of his skates are in contact with, or on his own side of the line, at the instant the puck completely crosses the leadingedge of the blueline regardless of the position of his stick. However, a player actually controlling the puck who shall cross the line ahead of the puck shall not be considered “off-side,” provided he had possession and control of the puck prior to his skates crossing the blue line.

It should be noted that while the position of the player’s skates is what determines whether a player is “off-side,” nevertheless the question of an “off-side” never arises until the puck has completely crossed the leading edge of the blueline at which time the decision is to be made.

If a player legally carries or passes the puck back into his own defending zone while a player of the opposing team is in such defending zone, the off-side shall be ignored and play permitted to continue.

MSG NEWS 2013:

The Rangers are glad to have Matthew Lombardi back on the ice and will move to add him to the top six right away. With Ryan Malone out for a few weeks, we are going to give Jiri Hudler the opportunity to play with league leading Thomas Vanek and Captain Joe Thornton. This will make room for Lombardi on the LW of Nik Antropov, who is moving to Center and David Moss promoted to 2nd line RW. This new look rewards recent efforts and results, while accommodating Ryan Malone's LTIR time. I am very excited about what I am seeing with these new combo's and Look forward to the coming week of GML hockey! Team Lineup to follow:

The New York Rangers

Vanek | Thornton | Hudler
Lombardi | Antropov | Moss
Galiardi | Stajan | Staubitz
Powe | Belanger | Brent

Gonchar | Klein
Stuart | Souray
Moore | Huskins
White | Muzzin

WAIVERS: The New York Rangers have claimed Andrew Johnston off waivers from the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Excellent news, just noticed this. Andrew Johnston will join the Connecticut Whale at practice later today in hopes of debuting against the St. John's Icecaps.

Andrew Johnston is a product of the the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, and was signed by the NHL's Philledelphia Flyers last summer after posting 81 points in 58 games in his final year with the Humbolt Broncos. (Jaden Schwartz is another notable alum from the SJHL.) Andrew is in his first year of AHL hockey with the Phantoms and has 5 points in 26 games with 5 minutes in the sin bin. His entry into pro hockey has been admittedly rocky, with a stint in the ECHL before being called back to Adirondack. The New York Rangers are thrilled to add him to our system via the waiver mechanism, proving this system can work for players who may just need a chance and teams looking to build depth. Frankly, I am surprised we got him, with 12 other teams below us in the standings that could have snatched up this free prospect.

ADMIN NOTE: Andrew Johnston will slot in at 4th line Left Wing (his natural position although he played Center most of his time in Junior)with our minor league affiliate.

The Blues are really excited that Cody will stay for 3 more Years in St.Louis.

He´s a really important Part of the Team and he will be even better in the next Years.

With 7 Goals and 14 Points in 16 Games he´s allready our Topscorer and he quickly moved up to the 1st Line this Year.

Cody joined the Blues via Trade (with Ehrhoff) in a Blockbuster Deal with the Winnipeg Jets in the Off-Season.
