I vote Option 1 for this year.

We should track option 2, then we can review it in detail over the summer, and see if there are benefits that make us want to try it.

I don`t wanna think about em, I just wanna get down!

Signing: The Minnesota Wild have signed pending-RFA F Mikael Granlund to a three-year contract extension.

Mikael Granlund - Three-year deal worth $5.25 million dollars ($1.75 million per season).

Signing: The Minnesota Wild have signed pending-UFA D Jordan Leopold to a one-year contract extension.

Jordan Leopold - One-year deal worth $3.25 million dollars.

Minnesota is committed to building a winner and today's signings definitely help us move in that direction. Both players displayed a strong desire to stay and be part of what we are building and we are very fortunate to have them here.

Mikael represents a big part of our future and Jordan has been a steady contributor and leader for our D. We considered both to be very important pieces to get back into the fold and are happy to have been able to do so prior to the offseason.

I like option 2 - Solely because of the fact Ace got huge numbers for the first part of our series, and i easily outscored him the second part, but it was already too late.

Looks like option 1 though :P

REPORT

Simon Gagne, Drew Miller and Ron Hainsey are heading to CAR

:P

Waivers are still in effect, but IRL if you claim someone off waivers after the trade deadline they are not eligible to play for your club.

Not sure what our rule is on that.

EDIT:

God damn you Subban and your 17 pims!!!

Speaking of playoffs, I have two options on how to run playoff series this season, and I'm leaving it up to you guys to see which one we do.

Option 1: The standard format we've been using. Teams line up in their usual seeds and the team with the most points at the end of the 1st round advances.

Option 2: A 7 game series format. Seeding is the same, but matches up with the corresponding NHL playoff bracket to determine windows of time that would be considered a 'game' for our pool. If you outscore your opponent in that window, you win Game 1, and we enter the window for game 2 at a 0-0 tie. Win 4 games and you advance.

Example:

Thoughts?

Option 1

I don't mind the idea of option two, but I think there would be some kinks that would have to be worked out, maybe we could try to work them out through the summer and next season to make sure it is fair and then try implementing something like option 2 for next season? The idea just seems pretty sudden considering the playoffs are about to start, just my $0.02.

I think that is a fair idea.

Go with option 1 for this playoffs - but try the option 2 'in the background' and see what would've happened, where issues are?

Nice deal for the Pens, would've thought he'd get much more the way he's been playing, nice job jax.

-----------------------

Great night from Niskanen and Sven chipped in a few points for 17 on the night, solid considering Sbisa and McQuaid both didn't play with minor injuries.

I am a big big fan of option 2. I have to say that I did a shadow study last year on it during our playoffs and while it was 90% similar results to the way we normally do it, it did allow for an upset or two because of the game 'windows' of point collecting. Downside is it is slightly more work for the executive, and therefore Curt to keep track of, but not out of this world...

Having said that I vote that we go with option 1 this playoffs due to short notice and with an open study on option 2: perhaps post option 2 in red posts so GM's get used to it and see how it works and implement it in the Offseason for the following year. I know from looking at it last year in depth that it is fair, the series games are 2 or 3 nights of hockey correlated perfectly to the NHL series game nights and it works. The reason I like it is that it allowed for one upset to occur that did not happen based on our current system. Any team down 3 games to none 'could' still have the most points for the next 2 nights and win a 'game' so there is more excitment.

I am cool with whatever we do, but I like option 2 so much that next year it would be awesome to see us use it, and this year would be a good time to show it in thread so GM's can see it aand how it would work.

Tonight could very well go a long way in determining Minnesota's playoff fate. With a surging San Jose and St Louis to contend with and several key players in action tonight for the Wild, this is crunch time. We need results, pure and simple. This is where the mettle of our team will be tested and I am eager to see how we respond.

Blues News

The Blues Organisation is very happy about the efforts from the whole Team i lately.

"May we raised the "White Flag" in race for the Playoffs to early and we probably

shouldnt have traded Nathan Horton and Jarome Iginla. They would be helpfull Players now"

TGC said. But even without mentioned Players the Team gives all for the Team.

Lately acquired Guys like TJ Galiardi , Steve Begin or Colin McDonald have become solid

Players for the Blues. Legwand ,Ehrhoff and Bouwmeester also leading the Team and also Jason Chimera and Martin Erat came out of their slumps. Last but not leats our Rookie Defenders Eric Gryba and specially Dalton Prout lately. "Its great that we have such young Guys who gives all for our Team...i hope we´ll have fun with

those Players for Years" TGC said. More than a week to go and then we´ll know if the Blues made it or not.

Its so damn close....
