I think if Reimer did not have that groin injury early last season, Toronto would be excited about their goalie tandem right now. They certainly have the money to fish for a big expensive name in net, but their issues are not in the paint, lets face it, they aren't losing games 5-3 every night. In fact they are 4-3 in January and 5-3 in February..their best season in years hahahaha...but seriously they have the 3rd best goal differential in the east, so the masked men are doing their jobs. Scrivens in fact has a better GAA than Optimus Reim (no relation)

Their goaltending is hit or miss. Reimer was starting to look pretty good before his injury this year. Scrivens is solid for now but I'm not sure how I'd feel about having him starting long term. Toronto's main problem is their team defence. Doesn't matter who's in net when you constantly give second and third chances, don't clear rebounds and give the other team quality scoring chances in high percentage areas. Just like this gif I posted on Facebook a while ago....

The Washington Capitals are awaiting the confirmation that Tobias Enstrom, Matt Carkner, and Jamie Langenbrunner will all be placed on the injured reserve.

General Manager Statement:

On Carkner: We thought Matt was going to be ready for our game today but he seemed to have a minor setback during our morning skate. We hope to have him back very soon, especially with the recent injury to Toby.

On Enstrom: Toby's injury is a tough pill to swallow. He has been logging tons of minutes for us this year and has been playing exceptional hockey. This is probably going to be worse than a day-to-day injury. MRI results have not been confirmed yet but depending on which way his shoulder was separated, he could potentially miss the rest of the season. Our entire defense will really need to step up in his absence in order for our team to win the Presidents Trophy this season.

On Langenbrunner: This injury had been bothering Jamie for quite some time now. He wanted to push through the pain and possibly earn an NHL spot by season's end, but clearly the injury was affecting his game. Both sides agreed that if Jamie wants to prolong his career, surgery would be the best option available.

The Montreal Canadiens are very pleased to activate recently acquired G Jonas Gustavsson from the LTIR, who will slot in as the teams new backup goalie. We are excited to see what he can do.

To make room, the Habs will return G Petr Mrazek to the North Dakota Fighting Sioux (he is exempt from waivers).
