The 36-year-old made the announcement in a unique way on Twitter. Despite the jocular nature of the announcement, Darche's agent confirmed his client was retiring from pro hockey. In 250 career NHL games Darche registered 30 goals, 72 points and 58 penalty minutes. Darche spent the last three seasons in the Canadiens organization. Prior to that the 36-year-old journeyman had stints with the Tampa Bay Lightning, San Jose Sharks, Nashville Predators and Columbus Blue Jackets. He also played with the Syracuse Crunch, Milwaukee Admirals, Hershey Bears, Worcester Sharks, Norfolk Admirals, Portland Pirates and Hamilton Bulldogs in the American Hockey League.
