now we are still waiting for news about scrivens, daugavins and mcmillan

btw...tj brennan re-signed with the sabres

now they are up to 10 defenders
well brennan and mcnabb will play in the ahl most of the time i guess...even mcnabb had some imprssive numbers in 25 games for the sabres last season

Blues New Faces

Today we want to introduce our new Prospect Goalie Allen York.

Allen spend his time in 3 Leagues (ECHL,AHL & NHL) last Season...but the most impressive

time was in the NHL where he recorded a 3-2-0 , a 2,30 GAA and a 0,919 SV% in 11 Games

for theBlue Jackets.

So he was statistical better than the 2 Starters of his Team.

"Even we guess that he will stay one or two more Seasons in the Minors , we are confident in him

and we hope that he will get some NHL Icetime again." TGC said.

Your minor league roster is looking solid man. As things stand Scrivens is going to be the Leafs back-up next season and has looked solid in the AHL so far playing amazing for the Marlies so maybe you are going to have one heck of a signing on your NHL team next year as he could and should push Reimer for #1.

It appears that Cal O'Reilly has decided to head to Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the KHL.

http://penguinsrepor...togorsk-in-khl/

While we are obviously disappointed that Mr. O'Reilly has chosen this route, we wish him the best over in Russia. The Habs would like to terminate his contract at this time.

Wow. I'm a big fan of his (i originally signed him). It's too bad he was never given a good look at a top-6 playmaking role.

Welcome Cam Janssen !

I got myself a gritty bottom 6 forward (signed as a 13th).

* Reminder, both of my highly talented Swedish forwards are OTB. I'm looking for gritty players that can play in a top 9 role.

thanks :)
i have the hope that he will get the backup job in toronto.
he was amazing in the calder trophy and he also had some solid games in the nhl.
may my goalie lineup could change until lthe season starts.
it depends on if lui is going to florida or..toronto?
there are 3 or 4 possibly scenarios for me...worst would be that i m going with 3 backups into the season
then i ll move one of my goalies..but this will not be scrivens. theo could be the option cuz i allready signed clemmensen for 2 years.
i ll know more in a few weeks.

News today from the Saddledome, it has been reported that while GM Zen was rummaging through his desk he stumbled across a document left there by a previous GM. It is said that the document is labeled simply "Darryl's Guide to GMing". Some excerpts have been released to press.

Darryl's Guide to GMing: Chapter 1 The Draft
Hello and welcome to your first day as a GM in the league. Now you may have been hired after the draft, that's okay prospects really aren't that important anyway. For the sake of continuity this guide will start with the first things you must do at the end of a season and move chronologically from there so we will start with the draft. The draft is your first opportunity to build your team and many GM's will say that building from the draft is the best way to create a winning team. We are going to take a better approach, your first task is to trade as many draft picks as you can for veteran players who will work hard and grind for goals these players will help your team win now. If you have any picks remaining after your trades it is advisable to draft players who will work hard and grind for goals for depth and future seasons.
Note: While drafting stay away from skill players! These players are soft and will only provide unneeded offense to your team.

Chapter 2 Off Season
The off season is a time for signing players. It is advisable to trade for the rights of top end free agents just prior to the July 1 start of free agency. This will give you time to negotiate with them. Regarding top end free agents don't be afraid to over pay them you have a high salary cap and your owners will understand that using all of it will help build a team that can win now. When free agency does start it is recommended to focus on signing players who will work hard and grind for goals. These are of course the type of players any winning team needs.

Chapter 3 Trade Deadline
The trade deadline is of course your last chance to change your roster before the play offs. What happens at the deadline of course depends on how the season has been for your team. If your are in a play off spot it is advised to trade for players to help your drive to the cup. To acquire these players feel free to trade your prospects and high draft picks, you won't need them we are trying to win now. It is also a good idea to bring some veteran leadership for the play offs. You can never have to many veterans on your team.

Chapter 4 Emergency Protocol (Only use as last resort!!)
This is only to be done if your team is failing catastrophically! In the case of such a failure it is advised that you shake up your roster buy trading one of your top players. It is also recommended that this trade be for 4 or more players who will work hard and grind for goals as these players will help get your team back on track!

GM Zen said it was an interesting read but wouldn't comment on whether he would be using the guide himself.

If you're the Preds, do you match Weber's offer sheet, or take the picks?

Personally if I am GM - I take the 4 first round picks, and restock through draft and trade.

If I am Nashville - I match.

I don't match. The Captain of the team just signed and agreed to a deal with a different team.

How do you match that and overcome the optics? He just served notice that he is no longer the captain of the Predators, and while that sucks for the franchise, you take the picks and move on. Sad day when you match an offer sheet the Team Captain himself signed.

If they match this, the team is doomed more so than if they don't.

Edit: my math says the offer could have been in the second highest catagory:

  • $6,268,175 — $7,835,219: Two first-round picks, a second and third
  • $7,835,219 and higher: Four first-round picks

so they might only get 2 firsts a second and a third, but I still don't match it. The Captain of the team signed with another team...that is the end of that relationship, in my opinion.

Can you give up your franchise player for a handful of picks and still convince a market like Nashville that you want to win? Especially after you just lost another top defenceman for nothing? The Preds finally put themselves in a position where they could be considered legit Cup contenders. Suter walks for nothing, which was a huge blow. If Weber goes too, and all they get back is draft picks... I just don't see any scenario in which that works out well for them. If you ask me, the Predators HAVE to match this offer. They've got the cap space to do it, and not matching it could be catastrophic not only for the on ice product but for the teams standing in their market.

@Primal: by that logic Thomas Vanek hasn't wanted to be in Buffalo for years. Ryan Kesler wanted out of Vancouver. etc. The Preds already went public that they would match ANY offer sheet for Weber. Shea signing this could just be that he finally got the numbers he wanted, and so forced Nashville's hand to get a deal done. He may have signed it with the intent to remain in Nashville for the rest of his career. Perhaps he was tired of all the politics, the trade rumours, the negotiations that seemed to be stalling over and over... so he jumped at the chance when an avenue was presented to him where he could control his destiny (now it's either Philly or Nashville, no other option and he was able to choose that himself) and likely get the long term security the Preds were reluctant to give him in negotiations.

I just don't see how the Preds don't match this. I'd be shocked if they didn't.
