ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun suggests (below), Jose Theodore's willingness (or lack thereof) to waive his no-trade clause could be the only issue in play.

Just on ESPN this morning...If that is the case well poo, guess the boys from Quebec don't wanna come out to BC? would be interesting if we're able to convince him that he'll get a decent amount of games (like 35-40) and he won't have to crumble in the playoffs...be interesting to see what else is in play here

Gillis only has to get Burrows on the job!

I want Bjustad but is anybody worried about him doing an extra year of College and pulling a Justin Schultz and go to free agency. Huberdeau and Gudbranson are my first choices.

after Schultz and Hodgson prospects scare me.

I don't think D Tallon gives up any prospects for Lu (when he says that I believe him) my guess is we get some decent vets (Goc, Kopecky, Bergenheim) to round our depth and Theodore. If we're lucky than we might be able to pry one of his NHL ready prospects like Ellerby or Matthais (not from his era so might be more willing to cut ties)

Kulikov's name has been thrown out there by some of the rumour spreaders on Twitter too.

I think this Post will hit 200 pages before Luongo is Traded
because the asking is price is too high once August hits than it will happen I
think

The best assets we can get is Florida
but Chicago does have players I want like Brandon Saad or Brandon Pirri plus Dave Bolland as our 3rd line centre

( it was a Dream haha ) It will never happen but its a Dream

Luongo , Ballard , Schroeder and Raymond 1st round
for
Seabrook , Bolland , Emery , Montandor , Saad and Beach
I am DREAMING

The Canucks will not do a deal if we get DECENT vets. Luongo is a star not a decent vet. We either get a star back or top prospects.

At least Canucks got something for Cody, the Ducks got nothing for Schultz. I would hate to trade Lu for Bjustad and then he doesn't sign because he uses the College free agent option.

:picard: We never even had Schultz and we traded Hodgson fair and square. You need prospects to build a hockey team

If I remember correctly, the Sundin thread was way longer.

I know nobody has thrown the San Jose Sharks name into the mix, but they could be a good fit to trade with for Loungo.

* They need an upgrade in goal.
* Based on last years moves, they aren't afraid to make a big trade.
* Closer to Florida then some teams, Lou would be closer to home if a deal cannot be reached with Florida.
* They have assets to offer that Vancouver would actually want (Clowe, Murray, Pavelski, Boyle)

On a side note, I would love to get Nick Bjugstad in a deal for Lu and I don't see him on capgeek. Does anyone know why and how much his cap hit is?

He's not on capgeek because he is a prospect 19 hear old who played University hockey last year.

that's right - he has not turned pro yet - and it's possible that the Canucks would want him to be signed if they are to cut a deal including him..

"A source told the Sun Sentinel that Panthers prospect Nick Bjugstad, who scored a goal in the second scrimmage Thursday, has been offered a pro contract but has turned it down. He is still undecided as to whether to return to the University of Minnesota for his junior season or turn pro and try out for the Panthers in September. Bjugstad said he hopes to decide in the next few weeks so as not to leave the Gophers coaching staff hanging."

The elite fourth liner? Arguably the greatest fourth liner to ever grace the NHL and Vancouver Canucks? I don't doubt it was a long thread.

Thank you for the info guys. Very interesting. If he's not signed yet and he doesn't want to sign yet, then i'd rather have Huberdeau.

Not sure if MG would be comfortable to trade Lu to the Western Conf as like all the other proposals with Western teams, the move could come to bite us.

The God thread wins by a mile. I've even started a longer thread (count to 100,000 in white noise).

It would have to be Schroeder, Luongo and a first for Huberdeau and Theodore. Maybe more on our side but I think that would be fair.

In terms of vets coming over from FLA in a Luongo trade, Goc isn't a bad 3rd line center to add to the team. It would be a surprise if Luongo didn't net a greater return though.

I think you're undervaluing Luongo. Lu is worth Huberdeau and something else in my opinion. Luongo is a premier goalie in the Nhl. He's top 10 for sure. What's Huberdeau? A prospect.Huberdeau is not proven yet and I wouldn't be surprised if he's one of the guys being discussed.

The Canucks where asking for Toronto's 5th overall pick and Schenn I believe. Huberdeau is a 3rd overall pick. So I don't think it's too far off to be asking for him.
