Now that we have Schneider signed, Lou can rot in the AHL, on the bench or at home till he opens up more options. Sooner or later a team is going to become desperate enough to make a hockey deal. If not, we have him for 10 years; That's a long time to spend in any of the forementioned situations. If he's going to handcuff MG, MG should return the favor.

try selling that to the owners. ocassionally that is an option, but no owner would be willing to pay a guy that much money for that many years to have him play in the minors, or not even play at all
OMG! CRACK! YAY!

"The Panthers...
Word is Luongo is a growing possibility but Florida still refusing to part with a major player. Best I have heard is Scottie Upshall and Jose Theodore (who would be included in any deal for Luongo)"

It's Eklund folks. Don't waste your time.

Big difference between 6.5 when the salary cap is 64-69 and 4.2 when it is 70.

Wade Redden Cap hit of 6.5 mil, non physical, poor skater, also his offensive skills are now non existent. Ballard Cap hit of 4.2 and while I am not a Ballard fan, he coule be dumped for low pick like a 3rd or just put him on waivers and see if he clears. Ballard is better then Redden though.

I'm not condoning the demotion. I'm just saying it's not 'silly.' Do I think he deserves to be in the AHL? No. Would I think it's silly if he is? Still, no. Saving 4.2 million is always handy.

I don't want Upshall. I hope Gillis has asked for Bjugstad to be included in any deal. Big guy ( 212lb ) and a Centre. Perfect for a team wanting to get younger and bigger.

Maybe Lou for Bjugstad + Theodore + 2nd rounder. Is that a good deal ?

Luongo's not going anywhere, and he's going to end up being our starter next season. Schneider will not cope with 50 games let alone a full time schedule, which is where Luongo comes in. Expect a 41-41 split by the end of the season, and Luongo will carry us in the playoffs the way he always does in big games where Schneider will falter.

Yes, Luongo is a great goaltender but I think it's a little too late for his return. Almost all the fans have turned the page on him since the re-signing of Cory Schneider, everyone has already penciled him in the starting role. Gillis interviews turned from haven't spoke with him yet to listening to offers and patient for the right deal. I'm sure everyone is already aware that Luongo will be on his way out, it's only a matter of time. It would be way to awkward for him.

And it doesn't seem right to put 9-10M cap on your goalies, just waste. You have two #1 goalies, I think we need to pick one (pretty much chosen already, Schneider) and trade the other to get better elsewhere in our lineup.

You are a Troll.

I once thought you had some credible posts.

How on earth do you know C.S can't handle 50 starts?

You are just writing him off cause you lay in a bathtub surrounded by candles and images of Luongo as you cut yourself with razor blades.

Nooo nooo nooooooo.

Get out of the bathtub and turn on the light

Cory is here to stay, 4m for a back up!?

Umm no

Can someone please explain what free agency means to Luongo (obviously not a free agent) in chances of getting traded, and what time free agency will start Vancouver time?

Free agency means nothing to a Lou deal, and the "frenzy" starts at 9AM Vancouver time...

Just a really pathetic post. Lu rot in the AHL? I would love to give you the mic at a Canuck game and hear you tell everyone your genius idea. In fact I would pay for that. Lu earned his contract and deserves respect. Good luck signing a meaningful contract with any top player after letting Lu 'rot' in the AHL. Seriously get a clue.

If you like looking at statistics to determine who's better, you're just a casual fan.

2.41 season GAA isn't very impressive. Let's not get into playoffs and his SV%.

Cory Schneider is the next Patrick Roy.

It does have a slight effect on Luongo - once the available UFAs land somewhere - particularly Brodeur - the teams that missed out on free agents pretty much will have to buckle down and acquire a guy via trade. In other words, there may be a team or two waiting to see if they can get Brodeur - after July 1st, where the chips fell will be clearer.

If he goes to the AHL, his salary drops. If he opts to stay at home he gets suspended without pay. If he reports, we still have the most dominant duos in the NHL. Win, win, win.
