Even if Thoedore did come here, would he accept the role of a backup? Something tells me he won't, so maybe it would be a better idea to get Lack to play back up next year.

Yes and I'm willing to make a bet. That's how sure I am!

If you like looking at statistics to determine who's better, you're just a casual fan.

2.41 season GAA isn't very impressive. Let's not get into playoffs and his SV%.

Cory Schneider is the next Patrick Roy.

Don't teams only ask for a 'list' when they are planning to move a player? If Theodore 'allegedly' created his list, then can't we assume Florida is planning on moving him? And why would they move him unless: a) Markstrom is filling in b ) they're preparing for Lu

Just a random observation, but it tingled the ol' spidey senses when I first saw it, and is just a detail that stands out to me.
Over the years, every tv interview Lu ever did, he wore a Canucks baseball cap. I even looked around on youtube, couldn't find any in which, if he had a hat on, it wasn't a defined Canucks logo ball cap. Until this year's exit interview. Plain black cap on. Maybe a minor detail, but it seemed big to me at the time, and pretty much the key signal that was the last we would see of Lu repping any Canucks gear.

Another side thought: in all the speculation rolling around and nitpicking who said what about Lu's future...has anyone heard anything at all from Lu himself since the year end interview? Even a sighting of him? Anything? Just curious, as he really is the one I would like to hear something from.

Just his coy posts on Twitter - but you won't get much in terms of trade speculation. Other than the odd joke about someone predicting something,

I would like that very much. He's a better option than anyone left on Free Agency.
Could do very well stepping in and playing 25-30 games for us.

I agree. He would be a good mentor for Schneider

I'd rather have Luongo play 30-40 games and play really well, win about 20 - 25 of them than Theodore play 20-30 games and win about half of them.

.

It's hard saying bye to luongo, but with kes injured till Xmas we might see him dress another 15 games in a Canuck jersey

I believe he is scheduled to be on 99.3 FM at 9:00 a.m. this morning.

Don't expect much out of the interview, tho.

Credible of not, the whole article and all of this speculation. Theodore will most likely be a part of this deal anyway, if it goes down at all. They have o use of him, Florida want's the little extra salary and we'll need a backup, or at least someone to challenge Lack @ camp. It all makes perfect sense. If some injury occurs, Jose can still work as starting goalie for some time and injury or not, he can still play 30-40 games if necessary. Just because Schneider takes over for Luongo, doesn't mean he want's to or even can maintain a top level and play 70+ games, like Luongo has proven he can.

I think Lack might benefit more from another year with the Wolves, he might be able to play in the NHL but one more year of seasoning wouldn't hurt, specially if we can get Theodore

Yeah I am not a big Theodore fan, but here it is. If we have both goalies on the team with less combined NHL experience than 70 games played we are in trouble, big trouble. If we have to lose a goalie, nothing better in that case than a great veteran coming back.
To be Sure though: I am in the camp of fans that want both Lu and Schneids next year.

This. How easy is it to write an article saying "Player X could be a part of trade Y"? Very, apparently.

There are 5 stages of loss.
1. Denial and Isolation
2. Anger
3. Bargaining
4. Depression
5. Acceptance
DUC is having a hard time with the first stage. Once he deals with stage one, the rest will fall like dominos.

We could have avoided a blog here if my sarcasm was translated over the internet.

Is there a sarcasm symbol? To show that the sentence is sarcastic?

I've been pushing for a font specific to sarcasm. Maybe from now on comic sans can be used exclusively for sarcasm? Something needs to be done.

I would not mind getting him but I'd rather see Lack back up Corey as last preseason Lack seemed to do better then both Corey and Luo and I think his time to play in the NHL is now.

Well it's a good thing you're not GM because I've heard interviews and read articles citing Mctavish, Arniel, Baumgartner, and Kelly Hrudey who all say Lack needs at least 1 more year, ideally two, in the AHL, in order to develop properly by getting starter's minutes. I'm going to take their opinion over CDC users. Part of the reason Corey Schneider has been such a success is because of the patience the Canucks displayed in letting him develop properly on the farm.

Secondly this is Cory's first season as a starter. Do you honestly want to have a rookie starter, backed by a goalie who has never played even one NHL regular season game. You have to have a veteran NHL goalie to back up Cory, as he may need to step in and play more games than the average backup, in order to ease the burden on Schneider.

VANCOUVER PROVINCE: Jason Botchford reports thereís speculation the Canucks would insist on Jose Theodore being part of the return if they were to ship Roberto Luongo to the Florida Panthers. Theodore has a limited NTC which lists ten teams he can be dealt to without waiving his clause, but the Canucks arenít on that list.

SPECTORíS NOTE: Sure, the Panthers could threaten to make Theodore their number three unless he accepts a trade, but if, as the piece suggests, he didnít get along with current Canucks goalie coach Rollie Melanson during their days together in Montreal, that threat might not work.†
