So inevitably, Ruff will be fired so one of these icetime hogs get their icetime, or those guys are just gonna have to suck it up. Either way, Buffalo is doing well for itself now. Them, Edmonton and Carolina are going to be vastly improved for the upcoming, loosey-goosey post-lockout season. History repeats itself. It's a freakin competitive game, if you can't compete with the best in the league then you don't deserve to be getting top 6 ice time. Could've had an easy ride behind two elite centers. Now he has to battle it out with bigger, faster, and younger centers. Ice isn't guaranteed unless you play in Edmonton. Provost Posted June 23, 2012 Author Share Posted June 23, 2012 Doubtful Either Gergensons of Grigorenko make the team next year, possibly one of them but I don't see it, and Roy has been rumored trade bait for awhile now, so that gives Cody one year for sure with the #2 spot locked up and probably at least two before he sees any real threat for the job. Gillis said there were problems with Cody, a few media types,who are dependant on the canucks goodwill to remain employed, repeated that and many people bought it. A lot of hate or derision just because a gm said something. Cody will be fine,the guy has been an elite player at tournements with the best players of his age group and has done extremely well.As the years go by and Gillis's mistakes begin to pile up this one will be a big one.(All gms make mistakes).
