Its time for all of you Jr. General Managers to take off your rose colored glasses

I have noticed that CDC puts a heavy price tag on the players we have on our Vancouver Canucks.

Some people on this Forum Truly Believe that Ballard + Raymond + Luongo can land ANY nhl prospect or Elite future HHOF'er

The way I see it is a little pessimistic but more realistic.

this is how I value our players
Letís turn the tables.

Say Luongo + Ballard + Raymond played on a different team
Say we needed a goaltender or forward or defenseman.
What players and assets would you be comfortable giving up?

This is the depth chart, check it out to help you decide
http://www.capgeek.c....php?team_id=29

Raymond = Peter Andersson + 5th rd pick

Ballard = Maholtra + Alberts

Luongo = ??? I canít find anything in our depth chart that I would want to get rid of that would be enough to land Luongo with out disrupting the roster and or the prospect pool. Well except for Raymond, Ballard, Maholtra, Alberts. Maybe Booth.

Now can you put yourself in Tallon/ Burke's chair?

That is why this deal may never get done, itís really hard to value Luongo when you want to make your team BETTER.

For those that say Gillis wants a Roster player and 2 Elite prospects

1-Booth or Edler or Hammer?
2-Lack, Kassian, Tanev, Volpatti?

Would that make us better?

Over value will set you up for disappointment, a trade works both ways. If you believe MG was owned in the KoHo trade you are a good example of a over value'er

To Vancouver: Roberto Luongo + Lukas Krajicek

To Florida: Bryan Allen + Todd Bertuzzi + Alex Auld

;)

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

Hit the nail on the head, therefore expect to take back some salary and a player(s) that need a "fresh start"
Because when you turn the tables, those assets are equal to what we would give up to make our team better.

Tell that to a team without a goalie, the most important position on the ice. Burke is dilusional if he thinks he's going to be a contender with two AHL goalies.

The only caveat is that elite goalies rarely come up for trade.
I don't buy the contract as an issue, the contract brings cost certainty IMO. A cap hit of 5.3 is nothing in today’s market, the length of the contract may seem high but any reasonable GM knows it was structured for cap reasons and Lou will say good night in about 5 years.
Florida was not in a position of strength when they dealt Lou, he was not signing for what they were willing to pay and their owner had no interest in negotiating the point.
So let’s look at Nash; elite forward huge contract again a type of player that rarely comes up for trade.
Not sure what Gillis wants in return for Lou but we all know what Columbus wants. Seems the Jackets haven't been able to make a deal for Nash yet.
There are two prices; one you want and one you get. At some point you settle for the middle ground and move on.
Lou will instantly make a team better, not a little but substantially.
Why give him away for nothing? Why take back a "bad" contract?
Take the Leafs for example, my guess is that Lou would get them into the playoffs , that alone would be worth a minimum of 3 yrs of his contract. Let’s say he steals a game or two and they make the second round, the CBC and S. Onterrible would go nuts. You'd have truckloads of money coming in.
Maybe GM's think they can steal Lou but I doubt Gillis will cave to lowball offers.

Luongo for Schenn+Komisarek

Feminism will be outlawed. Mostly because it's a backwards idiotic viewpoint that doesn't serve any real progressive purpose.

So basically schenn for luongo, because komisarek I dont believe is good enough to crack our line up, add in that every June 15th he has to submit a list of 5 teams he will accept a trade to, what if the canucks are not on that list.

you must deal from a point of strength,
Following the CDC assessment model,
The Canucks have the deepest D in the league.
I want Booth gone as much as Raymond and Ballard,
So,
Booth + Edler
The Canucks need to replace Booth anyway
and Edler is easily replaced with all that depth on D.

Hammer Beakie
Ballard/Alberts/Rome/Cannauton/Sauve/Parent/This years 3rd rnd pick Salo
one of those ^guys Tanev

See its easy when you use the CDC model

I still remember a few years ago, " Deepest D ever, Cannauton/Sauve/Ellington/Rahimi ARE GONNA DOM!"

All this talk of giving away Luongo. Gillis is in the drivers seat. All we need is a couple of slow starting teams with goaltending issues, I personally prefer Cory as my new starter, but if the price is right i'd move him. We are in a great position heading into the upcoming season. Lets be patient, lets try to enjoy the summer. Also did anyone else notice the deep shade of crimson Burke was sporting at the draft. Poor Burke looked angry not getting what he wants. Bottom line we have a couple of elite level goalies, and if you want one you gotta pay.

Schenn and Komisarek = 8.1 million cap hit, in other words.... ngth

not to mention they aren't upgrades - would be better off with picks/prospects

Is hard to know to average fan where the strength lies.
I am shocked Pitts got so much for Stall knowing that they they basically had 1 team to deal with because Stall is a UFA at seasons end and it was obviously he was going to play with his brother when he turned down 10 year deal for 60 million.
We do not have to do anything right today, but Cory will be a UFA at seasons end so to say we have aces up our sleeve is not true, and Burke may or may not need to make the playoffs this season to save his job.
We dont know if our owners are pressuring our GM to keep 1 or the other.
