Smashian Kassian
If it was Kesler for Staal straight up, Gillis dropped the ball
marleau_12
There is no need to reply to them. They have their opinion, I have mine. Whats the point in trying to force my opinion on someone?
bleednucksblue
Staal is 6'4'' and only 23 years old. Last year, he scored 50 points in 62 games, including 25 goals. There is no question he is a very talented player with offensive upside and defensive capabilities. I would have supported this trade.
Xbox
Pittsburgh would be to scary with Kesler. But I'd love to have Staal
bleednucksblue
Some people really make me shake my head. No one knows what Staal would or wouldn't do. If you guys are so good at predicting the future, where is Suter going to sign?
TOMapleLaughs
Tired of reports about shat that didn't happen but could've happened, but didn't happen, even though it could've, even though it really couldn't have happened. Because the shat just didn't happen. Y'know what i mean? TOML

wai_lai416
trade wise prolly not a good trade for the nucks since Staal will prolly not re-sign here next year.. but player wise.. i'm going to take Staal over Kesler.. for all we know.. with all these major surgery.. Kesler will never be the same or close to it ever again. and at least Staal will use the player around him 1000x more than Kesler ever will.. bleednucksblue
I gotta admit - if Carolina woulda offered Sutter, their 8th and Dumoulin for Kesler... that would require some thinkin...
Xbox
You're kidding right?! He turned down 60 million dollars from his current team because he wanted top line minutes with his brother in Carolina. People can't be this oblivious can they?

bleednucksblue
Maybe he just didn't want to be stick behind Malkin and Crosby. Staal wants a bigger role.
Opmac
Why is this even being debated? Jeff Angus is pulling stuff out of his ass (for the lack of a better word). The trade was Brandon Sutter, Brian Dumoulin and a 1st round selection in 2012 for Jordan Staal. Ryan Kesler ≠ Brandon Sutter, Brian Dumoulin, Derrick Pouliot. Ghostsof1915
What if despite having his brothers in Carolina he hates it there? There's no guarantee he'll sign in Carolina long term either. It's just a greater chance than staying in Pittsburgh. Gillis wouldn't make the deal unless he knew he could sign Staal to a contract extension. But he's been traded so that ends that. Xbox
He wanted to play with Eric. Everyone knew it but apparently you. You're making my head hurt. He was coincidentally traded to where his brother played then.

Xbox
Pretty big risk to assume he MIGHT want to stay. I'd rather keep Kes who will certainly stay here and I wouldn't stress about it for a whole fracking year.
