I love how some people think his stock has plummeted due to his performance in the last playoffs. As some have already stated, the whole team was a joke this last post-season.

More importantly, his stock has not plummeted because teams need defensemen all the time, and don't really care as to how they performed in the post-season.

Bouwmeester's value on the open market certainly didn't take a hit since he had zero playoff experience. Not only that, but look at Shea Weber's stats in the last two years in the playoffs. 3 points in 10 games this year, 5 points in 12 last season.

Sorry guys, but Edler's value is incredibly high.

Can you imagine drowning AT a KK Rev concert?

i'm pretty sure that's how zombies are born.

I have heard something to about a big, big acquistion that Gillis is making. Edler was absent from the final exit media scrum. I have heard rumors elluding to issues.

Gillis sees that the biggest hole is defence and realizes it. By letting go of players like Rome and Gragnani he was opening two roster spaces on defence. One for Justin Schultz and one for someone else.

People say Jason Garrison. I say no. This guy is a one year wonder with not overwhelmingly great stats. Looking for $5 M? Beat it.

Or some talk of Dennis Wideman. Big stay at home defenceman, a little old but reliable. $4.5 M? Maybe.

Mike Green is an RFA and might be available. At $5.25. Is he the foundation to build your team on?

Shea Weber is the logical choice for a defensive acquisition. Yes he comes with a $7.5 M pricetag, but if the Canucks can give Edler and Booth (plus two second rounders for 2013) in a trade we gain an elite, Norris ready defensman. He is the complete defenseman, and someone who could mentor Schultz, Tanev, ....hell Bieksa too. As dangerous as scoring threat with his frightening shot (ask Carey Price) as he was a defensive force using his 6'4" 235 frame to neutralize most intrusions. Except Kesler and some.

If Shea Weber is leaving Nashville, if he has decided that he wants to play elsewhere, you can be sure he's looking at Vancouver as a destination.

  • He plays in the same conference
  • Returns to the province in the off-season
  • Has played with Dan Hamhuis for 7 years, and played with Roberto Luongo during the gold medal run of 2010
  • Knows the team is cup ready with him in the line-up.
He has never played with forwards of this level before. He saw Poile go after aging prospects to prop up the ship/Russian funboys vs. youth. Gaustad, Gill, Radulov, Kostystin.

In Nashville he played with a Vezina finalist.

In Vancouver, he can win his Norris this year with a Hart/Art Ross winner, another Art Ross winner, a Selke winner, and two Jennings winner (one of which has also been nominated for the Vezina), on a team that had one two President's Trophies, and come within one game of the Cup.

Vancouver needs help on defense and are now one full season and some removed from the game seven loss in Vancouver with no solution for it. Gillis will be on the table for Shea Weber if he waives.

Forwards too will be acquired starting very soon. Shane Doan and Brandon Prust may be coming here.

Yes i like the idea of Weber and Doan on this team it adresses the 2 biggest needs on this team a big physical top 6 forward and a stud on defence in Weber. 2 player like this changes the dynamics and identity of the Canucks all for the good. Trade one of our goalies for 1 good NHL ready prospect and a high level pick and hopefully land this Shultz kid.

Totally agree. However, scoutz know his tendencies, but he could turn into that stud D man .

Oh Gradin. You don't like Shea Weber do you? That's okay. We are all different people with different opinions.

Face it, everyone loves weber cause he's from BC.

Perry is the fit. I don't know about Getzlaf. I would rather Perry was up with the Sedins. I'm convinced his output would be new PB.

Perry? Yes.

Gutlaugh? No

Edler cant leave... We need him just in case the team gets challenged to a dance off... We'd get served without him
