nitti999
A lot of speculation that Brian Burke will through huge money at Schneider to force Luongo deal. So what is too much. One example was 8 year 40 mil. 5 mil a year. No way he's worth that. IMO anything over 3.5 mil per year is too much. But in that case we get nothing in compensation for him. What is your opinion. What's too much?

Canucks_fo_life
5 mill max, anything over that is ridiculous for a goaltender that hasn't played 30 games in a season.

Mr.DirtyDangles
You are all insane ! 53 reg season games people ! I love this kid but get real !! Less than 3mill imho but 3.5 MAX!
Strawberries
4 mill would be pushing it, but who would want to lose him for picks we need to win now
hudson bay rules
5 million for a goalie playing less the 30 is ridiculous. Lu cap his is 5.3 and Canucks fans complain about that. 5 mil for an unproven goalie would be crazy in my mind
NuxFan09
Good question. I think anything over $5 million will be tough for the Canucks to match. At the end of the day, though, it depends on what's happening with Luongo. If Gillis and Co. feel really confident that they'll be able to trade Luongo then maybe they're comfortable matching a higher number. However, even with Luongo out of the fold, I doubt the Canucks wish to match much more than $5 million. It would be a bit odd if Gillis was forced to pay Schneider more than Luongo's cap hit when Luongo had proven FAR more than Schneider at the time he signed his big contract. Mr.DirtyDangles
So you let him go for $3.5M and take the 1st and 3rd? If someone is serious about snagging him, it'll need to be over $4.7M.

canucks.brad
magic number this year is 5.046 million (to $6,728,781) which would force a compensation package of: 1st round pick, 2nd, 3rd Over $6,728,781 to $8,410,976 - two 1st Round Picks, 2nd, 3rd if you are say the Chicago Blackhawks...what do you have to lose by offering schneider $5.5 million. they have $8,234,872 in cap space and projections of schneider have him as a great #1 goalie. with schneider the hawks should finish no lower than 5th in the West and probably advance past the 1st round each year. This would secure them a first round draft pick of no lower than 20. Their core is young enough to risk 1 20th round pick, a second or third. if they really want schneider, they could even offer $6.7 for 1 year. chicago really has nothing to lose. low risk, high reward
GradinToSmyl
No I dont want to let him go . MG offers 3 to 3.5 for let's say 3 years he takes it we are all happy Of course if some team high balls us we are screwed. MG should have signed Corey last year for less and we would not be in this situation.

Mr.DirtyDangles
Why would Schneider have signed last year? He wants to be a #1. In what world do you think Corey signs a deal for less?
GradinToSmyl
Uh because he has only played 53 reg season games that's why. Why would a team offer a goalie with that little experience that much money ? He is good but still unproven at the full goalie work load. Why would Corey leave for more dollars to a lesser team say that will not be as competitive? Would he rather not stay with the team that developed him into what he is and take over the reigns by performing ? Throwing money at Corey is ludacris and any team that wants to throw mad cash his way are welcome to him if he goes for the greens. We will be compensated but I dont want some draft pick for a potential elite goalie. Potential remember.
