      Forum-specific Rules   07/11/2017

These are board specific rules for the Trades and Rumors forum designed to provide organization and a better experience for everyone. Please review these rules before posting new threads.
THREAD ETIQUETTE   1. Please search for an existing thread before posting. This forum can be very fast moving, so it's understandable if redundant threads are inadvertently posted. In such a case, please use the report feature to request removal of redundant threads.    2. Provide a clearly identifiable topic title so that users can readily understand the content. The title should include any and all teams involved, as well as player names or other personnel involved as appropriate.   3. All trades, signings, rumors and other news MUST include a linkable source. Simply posting the name of the source is not enough. Effort should also be made to copy and paste the full article, or at the very least the relevant portion of text from the source to the first post of the thread. Moderators may remove low-quality threads in favour of high-quality threads.

Affixed to the front of your title should be a label that identifies the type of transaction that is taking place. For all trades use [TRADE]. For all signings use [SIGNING]. For all waiver-wire transactions use [WAIVERS]. For all rumours use [RUMOUR].
For articles or news items that don't fit into the above categories, affix an appropriate label of your choice such as [NEWS], [ARTICLE] or [MISC].   4. When the status of a thread changes a new thread can be created. The new thread should reflect the change and help focus the discussion on current events. e.g. Someone may create a new thread when a rumor becomes a trades. The old thread will be locked by the moderating team.    5. Do not misrepresent the contents of your thread or post false trades or rumors. Trolling will result in a permanent suspension.

SOURCES   The following source types are considered INVALID. Any links to posts or threads on other message boards Any links to personal blogs Any news heard on the radio that does not have a link to an audio vault or podcast Any news seen on television that does not have a link to online video Any news spread by word of mouth
Additionally, certain sources may be be blacklisted due to poor credentials, clear traffic-mongering etc. Blacklisted sources will be posted here.
Thank you for your co-operation and please PM the Administrator or Moderators if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions regarding this forum.

[Signing] Wild re-sign Matt Kassian

Wild Re-Signs Kassian:

The Wild continues to re-sign cogs in its lineup, today locking up a tough winger with ton of character.

Minnesota has re-signed Matt Kassian to a two-year contract.

The 25 year old is the type of player that any team in the NHL would like to have in the locker room, but the Wild made sure to retain his services and Kassian is glad to be a part of the organization’s future.

“It’s fantastic, I couldn’t be any happier,” Kassian said. “This is where I wanted to be and I’m glad to get something worked out.”

The Edmonton Alberta native was on the Wells Fargo Minnesota Wild Road Tour at the Summer Bash when he received the news. Visiting the southern part of the state reaffirmed that he wanted to continue playing for the Wild.

“You see the environment and the fans that are supporting you,” Kassian said about the Road Tour. “It makes you want to be a part of the State of Hockey.”

With the Wild last season, Kassian scored two goals, both on March 1 against the Montreal Canadians. He also racked up 55 penalty minutes. He was recalled from the Houston Aeroes, the Wild’s American Hockey League affiliate, in late December and never looked back. He skated in 24 games with Minnesota.

The 6-foot-4 and 232 pound winger is a force anytime he’s on the ice. He is willing to play a physical game and doesn’t hesitate to stick up for teammates, a vital piece of the Wild’s lineup. The style in which Kassian uses to be effective, wasn’t something that needed to be discussed.

“It’s known on both sides,” Kassian said about his game. “They know what I need to do and I know what I need to do.

“If you want to relate it to the dating world, there are some things that are know on both sides, and you don’t need to talk about.”

While in Houston last season, Kassian played in 26 games, racking up 2 goals, 2 assists and 34 penalty minutes. After being recalled to Minnesota, he was a staple in the lineup until a sports hernia sidelined him in late March. However, it wasn’t an injury that would keep him on the shelf for very long.

“It wasn’t anything that was long-term injury,” Kassain said. He added that he was back to training at full speed about a week after the season.

The Wild’s second round (57th overall) pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft has played in 28 career NHL games. He made his debut against the Calgary Flames on Nov. 15 of the 2010-11 season.

Kassian joins Chad Rau and Stephane Veilleux as forwards to re-up with Minnesota this week. More than anything, the hulking forward is looking ahead to the start of the 2012-13 season in a Wild sweater.

“I was excited before,” Kassian said. “It was something I was looking forward to happening and it was able to come to fruition. I’ve been excited since the season ended to get back at it.”

Always a positive force, Kassian concluded, ”As long as you’re working hard, usually good things come to those who wait.”
