butters
Whenever I take a new job I ask myself if its the best thing for Vancouver. I'm sure every single one of you do as well. Why shouldn't Schultz? Rabble! Rabble rabble rabble!
nux4lyfe
Funny how some people all calling him 'over-rated' all of a sudden now that he's a Oiler..2 days ago the same people couldn't get off his ....
Kazmanian Devil
Kassian will run him over, knock him out for 6 - 8 months with a concussion, then Keith will end it all with a cheap elbow to the head whenever Schultz plays the Hawks...Karma Justin, Karma Do you do stand up? ErnieVan
Sorry but $3.8M for a guy that hasn't played a game of professional hockey. Glad we didn't sign at that price. May have the skills but too much for a college player.
Canouver
Love the guy's skill but how could you not choose your own province's team! AND THE OILERS!!! What a dick move that was bringing in Gretzky and Coffee to lure him in. Isn't that tampering? Such BS!!!! I know those two guys probably intimidated Schultz into signing with Edmonton. Hey Schultzy you think your better than me and Paul too good to play for the Oilers.

DeNiro
Maybe if Alberts gets hurt. His (KC) defensive game is lacking from what I've seen. If you've watched Schultz play, his game is pretty similar. He'll struggle trying to fend off 200+ pound forwards. Connauton put up similar numbers to Schultz at the same age in college hockey. And he's been seasoned in the AHL for the last couple seasons, playing against much better talent. Connauton will surprise alot of people.
AnInconvenienceBrah
We really need to win the Cup now before Edmonton goes on a roll. It sucks that we still need to bolster our defense and centre position but an unproven defensive rookie was not going to fix that. Here's hoping to a Lu trade happening sometime at the deadline to bring in someone big or five. really? Oilers are so small and soft they make the Canucks look like bullies! Oilers will have a hard time matching up to teams with their small size and softness, Canucks aren't even a small or soft team and we had a tough time in the playoffs, Oilers would get killed and they don't have solid vets to help lead them. Oilers are the last of the Canucks worries, LA and others are a much bigger concern than the freaking Oilers.
coastal1
Edmonton was more desperate and made promises that Gillis could not.... simple as that. Plus they sure have a heck of a lot of young star forwards to grow with... First part, nobody will ever know for sure. Second part is obvious and clearly a key determinant, has to be. Smashian Kassian
WIth an arena that is falling apart, no quality D (except a skinny kid who has never played a game in the NHL), an unproven goalie, a revolving door of coaches, an ownership group that doesn't like to spend money and a core group who will all be hitting FA expecting major raises at the same time....sure looks like Edmonton has all their ducks in a row, alright. They have alot of good young D-prospects. Schultz, Musil, Klefbom, theres more I just can't remember them all & there offensive core will be amazing and they will find a goalie in that time, they always emerge, look at Quick he was a 3rd round pick, Thomas looked like a career minor leaguer then he emerged and later carried his team to the cup. And there is already plans to build a new arena. Those are all issues now, when there young players are superstars they will be one of the best teams in the league. It's looking scary. bd71
Pronger and Surrey had top minutes in Edmonton, how well did that work out for them?? Good luck in Edmonton kid. The year Pronger was there they lost in game 7 of the SCF so not so bad.
KSniper88
Oilers are now right up there with the Flames lol...Oilers just proved there a amateur hillbilly organization, have you ever seen in any sport where a team assures a rookie of ice time? What the F are you talking about. 1. Oilers are building a new arena as we speak 2. The Oilers now have five top 4 defencemen. 3. Dubnyk can go either way, just like Schnieder 4. Oilers were one of the best places to coach. It was recently that the coaches started coming in and out. 5. The Oilers have one owner, Darryl Katz of Rexall pharmacies. He is one of the richest people in Canada. 6. All players hit free agency, same time or not it doesn't make much of a difference

If losing guaranteed a cup, the blue jackets would have several by now. The fact is, nothing guarantees a cup no matter how much talent you have. Alot still needs to go right. They could struggle to find a number 1 goalie for years, or all their D-men could be busts. At this point they're still very far from getting a cup. hockeyville88
According to capgeek his cap hit will be 3.775 million. Yup Knowing how MG feels about cap hits, I think the Canucks may have taken their foot off the gas in their pursuit of Schultz. The guy acts like a diva and then comes onto our team and is given a contract with a higher cap hit than Burrows and almost as high as Schneider. Talk about rift between the players. That would not have been a good thing for the locker room internally and I'm sure MG recognized that and eased off.

Connauton has paid his dues and deserves a chance to make the club ahead of Schultz.
