4 or 5 years from now Canucks will struggle against Oilers.

really? just like in 2008 everyone was saying the Canucks are in the dark age and will be forced into a rebuild?... Oilers have a lot to prove.

with that cap hit he is probably a better fit in Edmonton - they don't really have to concern themselves too much with overpaying in the short term for a rookie - his cap hit would get in the way in Vancouver, of going after a veteran shut down guy, or Doan...
don't need another Gragnani situation with contrived reasons to put a kid into the lineup before he's really ready.

I am a die hard Canuck fan, and I hate the majority of Canuck fans. There is a reason I almost never post. Listening to the logic of Canucks fans makes me dumber. With that aside, read how irrational most of you are because he didn't sign here. I wouldn't want to play here either.

To be fair, Oilers fans would likely be having the same reaction if they didn't sign him.

People are just disappointed because they built this guy up in their heads as a Bobby Orr, and now their just venting.

Meh, I'm alright with signing players who don't expect to be treated like stars and want to earn ice time the hard(right) way.

Good luck to Schultz, but not to the Oilers. (Second thought luck to neither of them! Mwahahaha!)

Why would you want to be handed ice time. If he goes -10 in his first 15 games and has 1 assist I'm pretty sure Edmontons promise about garanteed ice time will come to an end.

What the F are you talking about.

1. Oilers are building a new arena as we speak

2. The Oilers now have five top 4 defencemen.

3. Dubnyk can go either way, just like Schnieder

4. Oilers were one of the best places to coach. It was recently that the coaches started coming in and out.

5. The Oilers have one owner, Darryl Katz of Rexall pharmacies. He is one of the richest people in Canada.

6. All players hit free agency, same time or not it doesn't make much of a difference

5 top 4 d-men????? since when!??!?! did they sign weber and suter when i wasn't looking?? because that would only bring them up to 2 top 4 d-men.... and player hitting FA at the same time REALLY does matter, ASK CHICAGO!

its nice that you numbered your points so everyone can tear them apart one by one... maybe you should just put more thought into your next set of bold statements, especially the 5 top 4 d-men the oilers haven't had in decades.

As a Canucks fan (Schultz is too) I would much rather sign with the Ducks than the Oilers.

Wow turns down chicago, detroit, vancouver all those non-playoff teams for a playoff team, quite reasonable. The kid is a winner.

Hopefully Gillis will be busy tomorrow.

What's with the hate?
And how is it AV's fault that Schultz didn't sign here? Tanev managed to earn his minutes under AV, so Schultz being a very talented player should be able to do the same.
Here is something interesting
Tanev is now 22 years old and Schultz will turn 22 soon
Tanev went through the proper development while Schultz is playing top 4 minutes right away let's see how both of them turn out after let's say 5 years.
I know Tanev is not as talented as Schultz but he has played in some high pressure situation and performed well... so let's just wait and see

I just think all of us that are upset are looking for a glimmer of possitivity, and joy that we have be shunned out of for the past little while. We came a game away from winning a cup. We get kicked out in the first round this year. We just want to have something to look forward to and be happy about. Always coming up a little short sucks. Can we get Weber or Gudbranson or something to look forward to this summer MG PLEASE. I know I might sound irrational, but getting a guy like shultz would have been something to look forward to. I guess I just have an appetite for instant satisfaction.

Our owners have more money. :P

...and more importantly, have shown a willingness to spend it, unlike Mr. Drugstore in Edmonton.

Can't believe people are whining so much and taking it personally. He made his decision, get over it. There wasn't anything more the Canucks could have done. We couldn't offer him more money, and we couldn't have Gretzky call him either. The only thing we could have done is promise him ice time, but it would be stupid and unfair to our other prospects to guarantee a roster spot to a guy who has never played an NHL game. I would have loved to have his hockey skills on the Canucks, but I'm not gonna go cry about it.

The Edmonton Oilers:

Building a contender through failure... This is why I hate them.

Good signing, but I hope it goes horribly wrong.

Watch Bowness somehow mess up Tampa Bay's already amazing 2 powerplay units...he'll probably tell Stamkos to do drop passes from centre ice, take him out from the faceoff dot, and place him infront of the goalie

Some of you are acting like children.

Shultz can sign with whoever he wants. If he rather plays more then he has every right to do so.

BAD MOVE!!!

BAD FING MOVE

HAHAHA ANOTHER INJURED MORON ON OUR TEAM

HE WILL JOIN US IN 2019

Benning will be fired next year. Hope he enjoys screwing around for a few months. I just cant believe this. Another injured BC player. We just got rid of garrison. Seems like the canucks and linden just wanted any BC born player. Doesn't matter if hes good or not. We don't need another Linden to get us to game 7 of the Stanley cup and lose. We need someone to win us a cup.

5 million a year for Vrbata? 6 million for Miller? Kesler for Bonino and 24th instead of 10th pick or one of their top prospects? Garrison for scraps?

ive already lost faith in JB. Ive never EVER had this bad of a feeling about management.

Right on, exactly. This is the reason we can call Schultz selfish...

How can you say no to Gretzky, I mean honestly...

I knew we were out of it as soon as it was reported that the Oilers had gotten them to speak to him on their behalf. lol

"It's an opportunity, we don't look at it as a last chance... We look at it as an opportunity to do something great. We are going to take it period by period, shift by shift. Ducks didn't really do it. Perry and Getzlaf were later first round picks, and Niedermeyer and Pronger were acquire through a signing and a trade.
