Hehehehe...the honesty is actually quite refreshing.

So ill move on in the next few days.

I felt the same way about Linden being moved.

Making room for bigger , faster, younger.
Changes have to made as the team was exposed twice in the recent playoffs for being to soft .
Sami had a great shot but was getting way too slow.

Salo was my hero, at one point my favorite Canuck ever. He will always be one of my favorite players ever and I will miss him a great deal.

There is no 'one' memory I have of him. There are hundreds, and to list only one would be unjust towards the others.

Salo, you deserve the huge pay increase, and 2 years, As much as I will miss you, Im happy that you're getting what you want.

Gillis, you better be planning something really big. We can't afford to loose Salo right now, so I have to assume Gillis is going for a couple big names on D. If Salo is lost in vain I will never forgive Gillis.

Truly one of the best trades Burke ever made, trading Peter Schaefer to Ottawa for the Finnish MacInnis! 9 years he was one of the most important pieces of our back end and a great leader and teamate. had some bad luck with injuries, but always worked his but off to come back as soon as he could. We'll really miss him, but couldn't pay 3.75, Good on you Sami, glad you got a good last contract, you'll always be a Canuck!

My favourite was when the Canucks smartly decided to avoid doubling his salary to keep him after his play has been declining and amid injury concerns.

Me, it was the last Canucks Fright Night when Salo was paired up with Volpatti(?). I wanted a picture with Sami, but he didn't want the other guy left out and nudged toward him. In truth, I was going to talk to the other guy anyways as he was left alone, but I thought after it was a good gesture. I'll need to check my pic to see who it was.
Class act, all the best Sami.Later

Good bye sami! you, your booming slapshot, and your seemingly bizarre injuries at times will all be missed. It is going to take some getting used to seeing you play for someone else! Best of luck!

Fondest memory of salo hard to pinpoint, so many wonderful slapshots where you just knew he was about to laser one into the net!

Those two goals against the Sharks. I'm surprised we didn't see more of that last year. Especially 5 on 3. Look how far down into the slot he got for a one timer. NO goalie is going to stop that.

Posted in the Signings thread... but since this is memories...

Man I'm gonna miss this guy. His slapshot was so exciting to watch. Best of luck, Sami. Like Mattias, forever a Canuck.

Notables for me in recent memory.

Shut up. It's understandable that we did not resign him for the pay raise, and I completely support the signing of Garrison, but lets take a minute to appreciate the work the longest-tenured Canuck put in for us year in and year out, despite numerous injuries. I love Salo, and it pains me greatly to see that he will never win the cup with the Canucks. I know that is what he wanted.

I disagree. It is fan sentimentality that drives the local opinion of Salo. He was the best of the rest on our defense, and besides a big slapper, I don't think he was as strong a defenseman as some make him out to be. With Salo's injury concerns, I think the Canucks can improve with his departure.

he and hamhuis were pretty much the only d-men with their head on right for months before and during the playoffs this year. Mr. reliable. I probably woulda played him over bieksa if we had any other depth at defence when bieksa was sucking.

the longest-tenured Canuck

"longest-tenured"? Maybe out of the current roster, but far from all time.
