Canucks may not go too crazy here....we're gonna take Bjugstad from Florida, and may have to save some cap space for Doan. ::D

I honestly don't get this need, I say give it to Lappi and spend that money on a far greater need which is a top 6 right wing. Jagr to play with the Sedins or Doan if he walks from phoenix would do way more for us. Lappi's done everything we've ever asked of him and is better than a 4th liner, plus we have manny to center the 4th line who I expect to have a really good year.

Personally, if I had my way:
Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Booth - Kesler - Doan
Higgins - Schroeder - Raymond
Malhotra - Lapierre - Hansen

Bieksa - Hamhuis
Edler - Garrison
Tanev - Connauton

Schneider
Theodore

That way, the 4th line is still viable enough to make it so we have lines 1a, 1b, 3a, 3b. Much better for a deep playoff run.
The defense has the great combo of Edler and Garrison that should mirror Edler/Ehrhoff with improvements, the defensive force of Hammer/Juice, and the young guns in Tanev and Connauton. Theodore is assuming we get him from the Luongo trade... I don't feel right guessing the other players, though. So the roster would clearly be tweaked.

I still think we need a legit #1 D-man..wasn't that one of our big problems in the first place?

Biggest problem was scoring in the post season though.

I'm sure it's just insurance in case Schroeder can't cut it.

I would imagine we try and and acquire one in the Luongo trade. Like others have said, Bjugstad would be nice.

Jokinen could be a good fit for 3 mill nothing more then that and has Mueller suffered two concussions in the past 3 years?

Canucks could offer Mueller a 1 year @ 1 million contract, or 1 year @ 1.75 million.

Then they should offer Jokinen 1 year @ 2 million, or 1 year @ 2.35 million.

To the wise folks posting that this is blatantly obvious, the point is we are close to getting this center.

No to Jokinen. We don't need Flames garbage on our team. And rumors have been circulating for years that he's a bad teammate.

Mueller would be a risk because of his past concussions, but that means he would come cheap. The ultimate reclamation project, much like the the Torres signing.

If he could stay healthy (big if), he could put up 40 points playing with Higgins and Hansen.

One day some of us will look back on the year and look at the chicago, and most of us will realize that it was a small bump in the road to the cup

Jokinen is fine if he's being utilized as a secondary piece which in this case he would be. Slot him into the #2C position with Mueller on the wing and Booth on the other until Kesler comes back, then drop him down to #3C with Higgins and Hansen. Keep Mueller on the 2nd line when Kesler comes back.

Sedin/Sedin/Burrows
Booth/Jokinen/Mueller
Higgins/Malhotra/Hansen
Weise/Lapierre/Kassian
Plug

When Kesler comes back:

Sedin/Sedin/Burrows
Booth/Kesler/Mueller
Higgins/Jokinen/Hansen
Lapierre/Malhotra/Kassian

Trade for Martin Hanzal. Guy's a stud and can play the 2nd line in the event of an injury.

Why are people so high on Mueller? I know he's talented and all, has the size, but really he's a really injury-prone player. I'm not sure if he's worth the risk. We all know this team doesn't have any luck when it comes to injuries.

It's a risk/reward type thing.

You could say the risk is high because of his history with injuries, but his salary would be low, so IMO the risk is medium. But the thing is, the reward could be very high.

If you're the team that jumps on this guy and he has his first full season of being healthy, it would be a very valuable signing. The guy has a ton of size and skill and is still only 24. Former 8th overall pick to boot.

Could be a prototypical Gillis signing.

Ok then offer Mueller 1 year @ 1 million.

Offer Brule 2 years @ 2.25 million

Wolski 1 year @ 1.5 million

This would probs be a longshot but i wouldn't mind kicking the can again with Brendan Morrison.

Definetly not the same player like the WCE, but he is a smart center who can easily play in your top six when there is an injury and a dependable and defensively responsible guy, would give us that much needed Second powerplay pivot we have so desperately needed since we lost Hodgson.
