Kris Versteeg is a RFA and is from Western Canada and loves Vancouver. How about trading his rights for Louongo. He plays Right Wing and would be an excellent addition to the Canucks top six.

C'Mon Gillis make it happen ;)

That may be a good idea, considering we need a playmaker for the second line.

Versteeg, Ellerby, 6th rounder for Lu. Get it done.

Add Jokinen via free agency and I'll be happy.

I don't think Gillis is targeting another top-6 forward. I'm thinking Jose Theodore will be a part of a potential deal as he'd be a solid backup, and we'd be taking back some cap space. First, he'd have to waive his no trade clause. Give Eddie Lack a FULL year in Chicago.

Marcel Goc is a very underrated Veteran defensive center who I believe can fill in our needed void for center depth with Kesler out.

As Gillis had mentioned numerous times, he wants to get younger and stronger. I think it's near impossible that either Huberdeau or Gubrandsson come to Vancouver, but here's my guy: Nick Bjugstad. He was drafted 20th overall in the 2010 entry draft, he's 6'5 215lbs, and he scored 42 points in 40 games with WCHA Minnesota. I believe he's a grade a prospect, who's extremely close to being an NHL regular.

I believe we have the potential to either lure one or both of Goc or Bjugstad in a trade, and maybe even Quinton Howden who got picked with te first rounder we traded for Ballard. Petrovic would be nice too. I'll let you all do the research!

I could see a potential blockbuster trade like this happen:

To Florida:
Roberto Luongo
Anton Rodin/Kevin Connouton/Yann Sauve
A pick

To Vamcouver:
Marcel Goc/Nick Bjugstad
Quinton Howden/Alex Peteovic
A pick

I believe these scenarios are realistic. That being said, we can speculate all we want, but it's just a waiting game.

Cheers, GO CANUCKS GO!!!

Kris Versteeg, Eric Gubranson, Jonathan Huberdeau, Stephen Weiss, Dmitry Kulikov and Brian Campbell are completely untouchable in any Luongo trade. Roberto Luongo would guarantee the Panthers a playoff appearance for a 2nd year in a row. Roberto Luongo is a popular one around Florida. Him and Campbell will serve as a great stop-gap for all the young talent that will be taking over the Panthers.

If the Panthers lean on Theodore and Clemmensen for the next 3-4 years, they probably won't be a playoff team for at least one of them. Tallon wants the Panthers to be a regular in the playoffs for a long time. That's the value that Luongo brings to the Panthers. He certainly doesn't make them a cup contender. So if you can find guys on the Panthers that we can bring in without taking away from that core group in Florida, then Tallon will be sold.

Good luck with that. Tallon is not going to trade Versteeg. He was a 1st liner for Florida. And they don't even need Luongo. If he's going to Florida it will be for a less-than-stellar return.
What is the deal with Mike Gillis, it always seems like he's sweating...

I don't think there wil be any sort of a blockbuster deal with Florida. Florida does not need luongo that bad, unlike torontos situation. If we could get luongo for bjugstad straight up I would do it. I would maybe try to get Florida to add a 2nd or a 3rd, but that is pushing it.
