BlurTriX
They've been contenders for the draft lottery for a while haha, but is it time?
MikeyBoy44
Not this year. But I feel a good chance they start pushing for playoff time the year after. This year they are still inexperienced and might get caught up in the hype. Who knows though. 50% of the time I'm wrong all the time.
22Sedinery33
Oilers will be a dominant team once they get better D and a goalie, as of right now there players are still developing and learning which is the scary thing considering the numbers they are putting up. elvis15
Ironic you think to make this on a day when Minnesota has possibly their biggest day ever in franchise history signing two all-stars. I'd think you'd be asking about them and their improved chances rather than Edmonton. As for the Oilers though, they could make the playoffs but they still have some growing to do. -Vintage Canuck-
Yeah, it'll be interesting how they will do with all the youngsters on that team. They will probably battle for the 8th and final spot to get into the Playoffs or just not make the Playoffs. Can't see them being last and going for the 1st overall pick for the 4th year in a row. Legend Killer
I'm honestly not having high expectations for them. They lack toughness. They've got Hordichuk and Eager. I can see injuries plaguing Hall and Nuge, big time.
KING ALBERTS
what goodies? a college defenceman, ryan smyth, and another top pick for being (almost) the worst team in the NHL?... sorry but offence doesnt win championships anymore, the 80's are over and the oilers will still miss the playoffs. barring any unforseen amazing trades for defence and goaltending... but they would have to be pretty amazing
RiCHC3
Just like any other bottom feeding team, they'll cause us trouble. Against everyone else though, probably nothing much to fret about this upcoming season.
Venom52
This year they will do a bit better. Not playoffs, but maybe 10th-12th in conference, get another high pick. The kids will all then know how much hard work it takes to be successful in the NHL and they will make a strong push for the playoffs. It will be at least 2-3 more years for them to be considered cup contenders again unless their GM makes a couple of really good trades and signings this off-season and the next. Ossi Vaananen
Still no goaltending for the oil. No real defensive depth either. Window is small with their ELC`s running out.
dKs89
Lol contenders and Edmonton in the same sentence. They aren't even close.

Cucumber
I think they can be like chicago in a few years edmonton got some good draft picks they just need a good dman and a better than average goalie
LeanBeef
Well if you have Torres and Matt Cooke on you're team you'll be fine. Check out their roster; tons of injury prone players in there. Basically half of their roster is extremely prone to injury.

oldnews
It depends what they decide to do. They could make themselves a playoff team this year by using their assets and making some moves to improve now. I'd be very tempted to flip one of their first overall picks for a top pairing blueliner - and move another small skilled forward like Gagner or Hemsky to get a little more balance in their lineup. If they choose to retain a whole barn full of young skilled forwards they won't be going anywhere yet. They have a few good blueline prospects as well, but they are a very unbalanced roster as it is. It will be interesting to see what they decide to do in terms of moves, but if they don't make any, they will do well to overtake Calgary and Colorado to climb out of the Northwest basement. -AJ-
At this rate, they will become Washington from a few years back. Offensive powerhouse with no defense or goaltending.
