this is just pure speculation from a fans point of view

What Gillis wants:

Jose Theodore - vetran backup for schneider

Kris Versteeg - top six forward to play on kes' other side

Nick Bjugstad/Dmitry Kulikov/Quinton Howden - guys with big potential

What Tallon wants to give:

Jose Theodore - make room for lu

Scottie Upshall - salary dump

Jack Skille - spare part that can be let go

somewhere in there is a comprimise that Tallon and Gillis can reach. my hope is that Bjugstad is one of the pieces coming back. what do you guys think?

note: did not include gudbranson or huberdeau because im trying to be realistic and i think those two are a no go with Tallon.

You should take Kulikov off the list, he won't happen either.

I would be very surprised if we were able to get him.

I would like to get Howden or Bjugstad, Skille, then a 1st, maybe more if we add Raymond or someone.

Yes that is a tough pickle. Who knows what Gillis and Tallon are cooking up. I don't even know if they are cooking up a deal but I hope for Lui's sake they are. We all know he wants to go back to Florida.

I would not mind seeing Buguastad on our roster in a couple years. Hopefully, Gillis can pry loose some decent players in this swap.

At 3.5 million dollars for the next four years, no f in way. He is a career plug who had half a good year.

Add in one more thing coming to us, this is the way I see that

Raymond = Mattias
Luongo > Theodore + Howden

You could even argue Raymond is worth more than Mattias.

But I sometimes don't see the full value in 3rd and 4th line guys so that could be the case here.

There is nothing in Florida worth having. We have a much better team and much better prospects so either keep luongo or send him somewhere where thay have something worth trading for.

Panthers fan here. You're not getting Kulikov (Well, you shouldn't be). And we do not want Raymond or Ballard.

I think Tallon is trying to keep his prospects at all cost. Bjugstad seems like a lock for a top 6 NHL role in the near future. I'd say Howden is more likely to come back, if any.

Theodore, Matthias, Howden for Raymond, Luongo. ( I think MayRay would do a lot better in Florida than he does here.)

All I can say is we had better be getting more than picks or prospects in return, we need roster players to fill some gaps and Lu is worth at least one or two, or one and picks/prospects.

Not sure we ABSOLUTELY need to get a goalie back. I'm sure that MG is willing to see what Lack is capable before making that choice.

Potentially, if Raymond goes back to his 25 goal form. However you are missing a big part of it. It is Raymond's righthat would have to be traded as Raymond is currently a pending RFA, so Mattias >>>>> Raymond's rights

How? I know Raymond in this market has been useless this past season, some may argue it was the injury which makes sense but he wasn't great in 10-11 either.

But he has scored 25 Goals, I dont think he fits here anymore but in Florida I could see him scoring 20 atleast. he's like Higgins was when we picked him up, he had just lost his way. Now look at him, that's the comparison I use for Raymond's situation.

and what makes Mattias so valuable? He's probably equivalent of Lappierre here. But Lappierre is probably better/more valuable.

Ideally (for both sides):

Vancouver:
Jose Theodore
Nick Bjugstad
Alex Petrovic

Florida:
Luongo
Raymond
Schroeder

Florida gets a starting goalie and return prospects. Vancouver free's up significant cap space while adding 2 blue chip prospects. Florida keeps top prospects: Gubranson, Huberdeau and Howsen.
