vancanfan
Have not heard much lately about the possibility of the Summer Olympics coming to the Pacific Northwest, does anyone know if this is still a possibility, is it still being discussed, etc? What are the odds that Vancouver and Seattle are awarded the games in 2021? I want to see the Summer Olympics in Canada, and I believe out of the cities that are listed and interested in these games, we have as good a shot as any other contender. Thoughts? http://en.wikipedia....8_Olympic_Games A joint bid by Vancouver and Seattle to host the 2028 Summer Olympics is being explored. It would be the first time that a city will have hosted both a Summer and a Winter Games as Vancouver hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics. A multi-national bid would be a ground-breaking event in the Olympic movement and would require overcoming numerous logistical hurdles and a change in an International Olympic Committee rule requiring that the Olympics be awarded to a single city. This rule has often not been enforced, with cities bidding and winning Olympics where some of the events are held away from the host city. For example, in the 2008 Games hosted in Beijing, equestrian events were actually held in Hong Kong, 1,200 miles (1,931 km) south of Beijing;[20] in the 1956 Summer Games Melbourne had equestrian events in Stockholm, 15,590 km away, along with Ballarat, Victoria located 110 km away hosting the rowing and canoeing events, and in the 2010 Vancouver Games, numerous events were hosted by Whistler, British Columbia, a town approximately 100 km away. In the 1996 Summer Olympics held in Atlanta, whitewater events were held 180 km away in Ocoee, Tennessee. Vancouver and Seattle both believe that the logistics can be overcome and have cited that the travel time between Seattle and Vancouver is similar to the travel time between Whistler, British Columbia and Vancouver, the site of most of the 2010 Winter Olympics competitions.[21]

PlayStation
We had problems with it being winter weather during 2010, I can just see the weather being too damn cold and rainy in 2028. But I forsure would love for an event that big to return!
BurnabyJoe
I think it would be pretty damn neat to see a joint-bid. Vancouver and Seattle have so much in common, and it's a smart way to get the summer Olympics while sharing some of the cost.

Kamero89
It is such a long shot for a city to get an Olympic games. I am not totally sure everyone appreciates how special the 2010 game were. 99.9% chance this city does not host them again for a long time. There is such few precedents of it. avelanch
You do know that late July and the early part of August is not the rainy season in Vancouver, right? Athletes bussed in seperate lanes with no waits at the border would be the solution.
